You don't need your tax returns for the petition. Actually, you don't need any financial supporting documents for the 129f. My advice follow exactly what the instructions say to submit. you will need financial materials when preparing the affidavit of support (i134) and the i864 after the K1 process. Just read the instructions carefully and you will know exactly what you need to prepare in your packet.

would it be a bad thing if I sent in the last three years of my tax returnes along with my 1-129f petition?

there is no reason to do it and you will only have to resubmit all your financial info at the interview.... but if you have already done it then it wont harm things

Bad? no. A complete and total waste of time and paper? Yes. Attach the most recent tax return and w-2s to the I-134 when you do the interview. NONE of that is needed for the I-129f
