Which country my I-130 for IR1/CR1 will go to?

Hi there,

I filed I-130 for my wife. She lives in Malaysia (on a 2nd home visa there). She is originally from Bangladesh (born and has passport from).

On our I-130, her current address is in Malaysia. I was wondering when USCIS (Cal Service Center)processes her papers and send it to consulate, which country will they send it to? Bangladesh or Malaysia ?

The reason for this question is to plan where she has to be to face the embassy for her visa.

Just for information:

I-130 filed: September 2011 for F2A as I am still an LPR

My naturalization is supposed to be done by April/May (hopefully) - currently waiting for Interview .. then I will update F2A to IR1/CR1

If you put her address in Malaysia on the I-130, it will be routed to Malaysia.

I checked my I130, there is no place to write about consulate as far as I can see.

Current address is from Malaysia, and Citizenship/birth is Bangladesh. Same in 325A

Take a look again at you I-130, Section C, Question 22

Oh I see ...

now this is weird .. as the title of the question (22) is "Complete this section if you relative (her) is in US and will be applying for AOS " .. I wrote N/A in all four boxes, without noticing the small subtitle on last two boxes.

I hope they donot hold it against me and reject I130, and route it to Malaysia as Ryan H said. If they dont and deny it, too bad. I hope they either put the right one in, or ask for new I130, else I am out of the fee :(

For what it's worth, we put N/A on all four blanks in question 22 of the I-130 for the same reason you mentioned. It was not an issue for us so you probably don't need to worry about them rejecting your application because of it.

I really don't know if USCIS will send you a RFE regarding the consulate or they will just assume it is going to Malaysia and forward it to NVC. Anyway, I don't believe they will deny your application just because a minor mistake in your form. Good luck!
