Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me with my concerns.I am already here in the US POE dec 11,2011 with a status of as a LPR- IR2 (GC HOLDER)

My concerns are :

a. I have already filed for my SSN and i just got my requested card number, for me to be able to apply for a job since the physical card will not be mailed till 10 days . My concern is that the lady from SSA told me that my name is too long that and it might not fit to the card, but she have work that up and i will be getting my Social security card w/ my full name.she actually did said SSA will be sending 2 cards for me since the first card w/c was requested yesterday is not giving the correct one ex.. it should have been karla marie santos cruz, but it was put as karlamarie santos cruz...so she have requested one again for me today which means i am receiving two.now my question is is that possible they will be sending 2 cards?

b. I am also getting a state card and a drivers license but i have to wait for the physical SS card to arrive, i am confused if what exactly should i put in my name. I am from the Philippines, so we have the first name which is karla marie, the middle name is Santos which is considered the mother's maiden name, and the last name is Cruz..All of my documents has my middle name as SANTOS, here in US they considered MARIE as my middle name.is it okay, if they will tell me my name is too long and it will not fit in the card can i put in KARLA MARIE CRUZ? disregarding the SANTOS? will that cause a problem, if i will travel back to the Philippines?

c. Do i still have to get EAD?

d. I have daughter, she is 7 yrs old she is an illegitimate child. as a GC holder can i get her since she is a minor, will she be considered as F2A? i just got here in the US dec 11.

e. and lastly, i have my partner but he is not the father of my baby.we are considering to get marry next yr hopefully.if we get marry will that affect with the petition that i will be processing for my daughter ?if granted we will be married he will be considered as f2A also, is that correct?

I am sorry if my questions come out to be annoying, but i hope someone can spare me some ideas

Thank you.

If you are an spouse of a USC and your child is still little it is best for your spouse to file for a step child of a USC. You file an I 130 and a minor child of a USC should be about the same time as a spouse. If you file as an LPR then your child would be like you are the minor child of an LPR.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

It's possible they've already sent the first card, which means you'll get two. Destroy the first one and keep the second one.

You are correct that the US usually does not consider your mother's maiden name to be your middle name. A middle name in the US is usually selected by your parents at the time of your birth, just as your first name is, and not inherited from one of your parents. Technically, you can give either name as your middle name, but it might cause problems for you if your documents don't all match. If you want to avoid confusion with your documents then you should probably use the same names in the same order as they appear on your visa and your green card.

c. Do i still have to get EAD?

No. A green card is valid as employment authorization. An EAD is only for people who need permission to work but aren't US citizens and don't have a green card.

d. I have daughter, she is 7 yrs old she is an illegitimate child. as a GC holder can i get her since she is a minor, will she be considered as F2A? i just got here in the US dec 11.

Yes. You can petition for your daughter. The category is F2A.

e. and lastly, i have my partner but he is not the father of my baby.we are considering to get marry next yr hopefully.if we get marry will that affect with the petition that i will be processing for my daughter ?if granted we will be married he will be considered as f2A also, is that correct?

After you marry you can petition for your husband. The category is also F2A. It won't affect your daughter's petition.
