Hey guys, does your NOA2 letter list any name of consulate anywhere on the letter, or states that its being forwarded to NVC? Because my NOA2 only states that "this above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate." But it doesnt show anywhere on the letter the name of the consulate being sent to, or it doesnt state its been forwarded to NVC.

That is a canned letter. The K-1 is always sent to the NVC first because it has to be entered in the system and be given an embassy case number.

Call the NVC or DOS and ask for your new case number.

Hey - if'n yer lass is actually in China,

she's gonna interview in Guangzhou, at the Immigrant Visa unit there at the US Consulate Annex.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

On the original i-129f petition there's a box asking which American embassy your fiance(e) will be applying for the visa at. If you have a copy, look at that. Otherwise better call NVC to be certain about the embassy, as others have said.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

NVC will probably route it to the right embassy.

I'd never advise to leave a box blank when there obviously is an answer. However, if you're uncertain about which embassy processes K1s then more likely you'll get a letter from NVC after the petition has been approved telling you which embassy the petition(application) has been sent to. I know some say they haven't gotten that letter. I did(well my husband) but we called before receiving it.
