I had my naturalization interview in Atlanta on 12/6 and It's been 3 weeks and I still have not received the oath date letter. I have requested a name change and noticed on the court's website that the next naturalization ceremony is Feb. 10,2012. When will I get the letter? I'm afraid of not being scheduled for that date because the next one after the 12th is April.

Are you married for 3 years ? they will send the letter when you are married 3 years and everything is completed. Quite a few people end up waiting because they are not quite 3 years married and then miss the oath so have to wait until the next oath time.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Sorry everyone, but when i completed my "timeline" i just put "other". I have applied after I was discharged from the USMC and had my interview 12/6. The IO said that they usually offer same day oath for military but since I requested a name change I have to wait for the letter.

Three weeks? Wow!

I had my interview some time in the first week of November and got my Oath letter on December 30, some six weeks later.

Three weeks, huh?

Wait 'til the end of January. If you have not received your Oath letter by then, report back.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Three-four years ago, St. Paul was taking 9-15 months for the oath ceremony, and was taking that long from the time you sent your N-400 application in just to get your interview. By law, should notify you within 120 days for your oath ceremony, but they can work around it. Besides you have to take them to court and really not nice to bite the hand that feeds you.

But what's the rush if you have a fresh green card, still super long delays with that I-751 and unless you make infopass appointments for further extensions on that one year delay, you can't work nor travel. Now that was a first class pain in the butt.

Not much will change unless you are planning on leaving the country or trying to get a federal job. Latter isn't too great, with budget cuts, early retirement or layoffs. Voting? Did you see the latest list of candidates? Not much choice there either.

I have no intentions to take USCIS to court at all. I worked for the government and I believe in it otherwise I would not want to become a citizen of this country I just wanted to know when I should be expecting my letter for the oath date because after I served this great country as a Marine I want to serve my community as a Police Officer and I can't even apply until I become a citizen. The other reason I'm anxious for the letter is because the department I want to work for is hiring and because of my background (military and second language spoken) the Lieutenant in charge of recruiting is very interested in me applying before the hiring date ends so...

Hopefully I'll get it soon.

Certainly can't hurt to call with the reasons you've noted above..all they can really say is no or they don't know.

That's true, I'll wait 'till the end of the first week of January and then I'll call and/or make an infopass app.

Thanks!

Senators have a special concern for vets, after all, you got stuck in harms way while they are enjoying a marvelous social life in Washington. I am a vet of a foreign war, on behalf of my wife, for other reasons, called him, and he set up a special oath ceremony for her.

Suggest you call your senator and explain your plight. In our case, instead of waiting nine months, got the oath letter email to me in three days. Had to show up at 8:00 AM, wife said the oath or rather repeated it, was handed her certificate, and that was it. You already read the oath at your interview and signed it in front of an officer. Oath ceremonies are just for show and its your field office that bangs out that certificate besides determining your eligibility. Really don't know why some field offices make such a big deal out of it by gathering some odd 3,500 people. Nobody cares about your US citizenship except you and your family. Just more long lines and extremely boring.

I didn't think of that but it sounds like a great idea. I'll wait untill first week of january and call him. The only problem is that i requested a name change so i just wanted to be on the Feb10th oath at the court cause thats the next one on their website.

Thanks!

Hi, any luck in getting your oath letter?

I interviewed a month ago, in Boston, and I am still waiting for my oath letter. I don't understand why, the officer didn't mention anything missing or abnormal. My N-652 said "recommended for approval", there is one ceremony per week in January and I saw people who interviewed after I did in the same office got their letter and date set. Totally scratching my head.

Nothing yet. I wrote the IO a letter asking the status of my case today so hopefully I'll hear something back soon but if not, I have also contacted my senior US senator so he can put some presure on them since I have passed the tests and met all requirements.

I guess all i can do now is wait.

Good luck with your case and keep us informed once u get ur oath date.
