Hello

We are ready to submit our I-130 petition and my US spouse pulls out his very old and faded birth certificate. I am sure it won't photocopy well. I read another supporting document could be his current passport but do they really need photocopies of every single (both sides) page in his passport??

Help!

Monica

I did photocopy every page of my passport, but te embassy only took the information page. That being said it is ALWAYS better to be over prepared.

Thanks for the tip! Did you give this instead of a birth certificate?

Does his birth certificate list the names and birthplaces of both his mother and father? That's the one they need, not the wallet-sized one. I wouldn't worry about the quality; they need an original for the CR1 at the NVC stage, again for the K3 at the Embassy interview stage.

Not sure about the passport Q, but in BC at least, it's relatively easy to get a new birth certificate and it doesn't take too long.

Hi,

My BC was the same way so I sent it and photo copies of my passport pages. Even the front cover just to be sure.Even the instructions and blank pages. Just to be sure.

I was approved and received no RFE.

And my petition was approved in 7 weeks. So I say send both..... and send copies of EVERY page of passport. I put 2 pages on 1 sheet pf paper and make sure there in order. Can't be to safe :-)

Good luck!

Mike

Hello

I've already given many $ to the Canadian Gov't for marriage certificates, "long form" birth certificates, "copies of birth", etc. etc. to be prepared for whatever they ask! My hubbie assured me he already had a long form birth certificate....just neglected to mention its about to disinegrate! ha.

Wish me luck
