hello everyone, i am new to this so i don't have a good knowledge on how to use it, anyway i will begin...i met my finacee(will be the petitioner) almost a year ago on a game and last week we finally met in person...she came here in dubai to meet me and i can truly say i love her, anyway we are planning on doing the whole k-1 visa thing...but here are my concerns!! she is unemployed at the moment and on low income home assistance and on food stamps....she is looking for a job though but her mom(who also came to visit me) is willing to be my co-sponsor and if needed my fiancee can also get her sisters to be my co-sponsors.So i want your opinion on my case. :)

They were able to afford a trip for 2 to Dubai....but she gets food stamps and public assistance.

One person has to meet the financial requirements of your visa. So, for 2 people it is 18,400 (almost) but if her mom claims anyone else on her taxes then her income has to be about 4000 higher for each person??? I am not sure about the correct amount.

actually it was a trip for 3 all payed by me..my concern is not the poverty guideline but does her being on govt housing and on food stamps effect the k-1 visa?

ok first some consulates do not allow co-sponsers. I do not know if Dubai is one of them

I have seen another poster approved with gf receiving benefits and they had a strong co-sponser.

I think you will be ok

Good Luck

Also,

you can use Assets to be sponsor.

It has to be 5 times the required amount and it must be quickly accessible money.

So, if she has 2 kids, herself and you....you will need.....alot

it is 18,350 dollars (somewhere around there) for 2 people

so for just you and her alone you will need close to 95,000 dollars or a home

and each kid you will add about 16,000. not sure on exact numbers

Check on the forums and with other people who went through the same consulate you'll be going through.

In terms of being able to prove your relationship. You're fine. I had the same question, as I met my fiance on a game as well. I asked around on the forum, and there are plenty of people who met the same way (or through myspace or facebook, ...basically the internet) and they get a K-1 visa approved just fine.

I would say look up the information regarding co-sponsors through the UAE Consulate.

I personally front loaded a little bit on my petition. I added some phone log and bills. I didn't send any chat logs. But when we get to the interview stage, I will be sending him off with some chat logs from the game we met on (and still play). All you need to do is show that this is your account/handle. It can be a simple statement. But, I also have a paid account with the game I play. So I'm sending in a screenshot of my account info including screenname (via the game website) along with a bank statement which shows my quarterly payment. All in all, it's not a big deal. You met. You even met her mom. I'm assuming you have pictures. All should be good.

Good luck with the filing :)

wow its sooo good to meet someone else who met on a game too and congratulations....i will check with the embassy here and we plan to file the petition in the first week of january cause i want her to take a break for a moment for christmas and new year then we will get busy with the whole procedure. But my main question was whether her being on public assistance and on food stamps matter to the extent that i may get denied of the visa?provided she is looking for a job and her mom being my co-sponsor.

and as far as proving the relationship i don't think i will have any problems because we met on playstation network and we have all our messages saved and i can get screen shots of them...then we moved to yahoo chat and we have thousands of convos saved...also will take screen shots from facebook...and it was a very good tip to include all my account names on game or yahoo and facebook.thank you very much and good luck.

If her mom meets the criteria as a co-sponsor, and she has really good finances. It'll probably be ok.

Another option could be waiting for your fiancee to find a job. I know it is frustrating to wait, but it could be prudent. If I were in that position, that's what I would. If she finds a job soon, gets hired, and then you file as soon as she is working. Then, as you are waiting for the NOA2, she will have 4-5 (or more) months under this new employment. She could then submit the paystubs as well as the letter from her employer at the time of the interview. It's really hard to say, as it's very clear that each consulate is very different and are looking for different things. And I personally don't know much about the UAE consulate.

In the end, do what you both feel is best for your relationship and fits both of your needs.

P.S. congratulations on your engagement :D
