UGH! Men are hard to shop for. My husband and I are coming upon our 2-year anniversary on Oct. 1st. Last year, we were apart on our anniversary AND I was at my old job, in a deli, slicing meat and cheese all day ... :( ... and we just talked, etc. This year I want to actually CELEBRATE the anniversary and I want to get him something nice (I think he's getting me a bracelet ;)) Anyway, the thing is that he doesn't really NEED anything and he's not really a man-jewelry type of guy; he wears his wedding ring and the watch I got him last Christmas, but I really don't think he would wear anything else. I know he wants an Mp3 player, BUT I want to get him a nice one with lots of memory and I think that would make a much better Christmas gift than anniversary gift (plus, if I get him that now I will have nothing to get him for Christmas). Also, we have most other electronic stuff and something like a portable DVD player would be totally useless to him and he just got a new cell phone upon his arrival to the US. AND he's working construction, so I couldn't get him like nice clothes or shoes because he will never have the chance to wear them. So, I'm like -- what do males like? Action figures? Toy guns? :help:

Any gift suggestions?

Hmm I know my husband would be the happiest person ever if we had sport channels for the TV so he can watch his favorite team play.

Ahhh, that would be SUCH a good idea, but we have the digital cable here and my husband found the all-soccer channel, which I didn't even know existed, literally 20 minutes after stepping foot through the door lol

If Hicham is as crazed for soccer as Jeti is, look into Fox Soccer Channel -- 24/7 all soccer, all the time, on the TV, always lol

Instead of buying him something material, how about a nice dinner out or a night at a nice hotel or a short trip somewhere.

I don't know, we aren't into material things here. I bought my husband some stuff last Xmas and never again since it wasn't worth it.

My favorite thing is to spend a night out with him somewhere like we are dating again.

Congratulations on your anniversary...

7-3-06 GREEN CARD ARRIVES IN MAIL!!!! Done for two years!!!!!!

I am here to help, even if it's just to offer my shoulder to cry or vent on... We are all in this together.!

My answers are based on personal experience, not fact.

We are on this rollercoaster ride together holding on for dear life.

Make reservations at a B&B and 'hijack him'. Don't tell him where you're going... buy a new negligee.... and enjoy your time away.

Now for my wedding gift ideas..... ** hijacks thread and taps foot ** :P

I would love to go somewhere with him instead but as it is right now, he's working two jobs (at his uncle's request, not mine) and attending ESL classes and we don't have time to go anywhere, really, even to dinner :( The second his EAD runs out and before his renewed one arrives, money or no money, we're going out on weekends and evenings, but until then I want to give him something nice for our anniversary that he can use and enjoy.

LOL, I have noooooooooo ideas at all about the wedding gift. Whatever you get, I think you should engrave it with your names and wedding date on it though.

What are his hobbies?

Playing soccer, playing the drums, spending time with moi. He likes history, archeology, art, music. But his hobbies lately have been work, sleep, work, sleep, eating, sleep, work. ... I really hate how much he's working and the fact that it's in Brooklyn. The Bronx - Brooklyn - Bronx is like a 3 hour a day commute; he's exhausted. Plus now his uncle got him a second job on the weekends, which, even though the money is good, I wish he wouldn't take. He feels he has to take it though because his uncle needs his help and helped him get a job in the first place. hmmm... maybe the best gift I could give him is to rip up his EAD stamp lol. :innocent:

He has extended family in Queens (Astoria). I wish WE lived in Queens because the commute would be a lot shorter for us both, though where we live in The Bronx has its own advantages. Ah well.

In any event, I need to do SOMETHING with him because the 2 year anniv needs to be celebrated somehow or with something. The problem is that he has no days off :(

As for your wedding gift -- what are some of your fiance's interests/hobbies?

Man.... you are testing the limits of constraints, aren't you?? I'd go with some hidden notes around the house... suggestive, of course... in the morning before he leaves for work... then when he gets home, make a rose petal path to you... romantic candlight dinner afterwards... perhaps recreate a meal from your honeymoon??

He plays the saxophone professionally... loves soccer (football!), wants to coach when he gets here. I think he's had some jewelry or something made for me, but I can't be sure.... he's been hinting...

Maybe I'm just a sentimental fool...but giving something that was handmade (some kind of keepsake) by you would be priceless. You can still get him something more practical, give both gifts and see which one he remembers over the years. :star: It will help you to see if he is more sentimental or more practical.
