December 2011 IR-1/CR-1 USCIS Filers

It must be for I-130 only. One person could make a mistake in reporting K-3 NOA2 but not many. Igor's list shows several from December I-130 got their NOA2 in last couple of days.

ok good , because just trying to make sure because people file both k3 and i130. If you file the i-130 its free to also file the k-3 so many do both.

Are you sure K-3 is for free if you have filed for I-130?

yeah its free unless they changed it since last year? If you file a I-130 you can file the K-3 after it and they dont charge a fee, its waived.

There is no fee for petitions for K-3 status based on an immigrant petition filed by the same U.S. citizen.

Thanks for the info. When I was preparing for my wife's visa file, I saw K-3 was not reducing a lot of wait time so never investigated for its fee requirement. I am not sure what's the latest fee for K-3, so can't comment on it :)

I just rechecked it and yes its still free if you have a I-130 filed already. I think they started waiving the K-3 fee back in 2007 or 2008 for I-130 filers

Word is they are trying to phase out the K-3 atleast in Manila. So they sped up the I-130 process. I-130 used to take a minimum of 1 year process, filing to NOA2. We didn't file for the K-3 either, its better to just get the CR-1 from the begining, saves time later and money too.

Yes, I think and said before that it seems like the people married for a while get faster approval. I think because there is less likelihood of fraud versus someone who gets married on monday and on friday they already are filing the papers. I could be wrong but it sounds right.

Petition processing times are not based in any way on the length of marriage.

While filing an I-129F after an I-130 for spouse doesn't cost any money, doing so will cost you all the time between filing the two petitions, as the I-130 will be taken out of its place in line and placed back in line where the I-129F came in. Then, when they are both approved the same day, the I-129F will be the victim of first degree murder at the hands of NVC. Exceptions are when you wait so long to file the I-129F that the I-130 gets approved before it can be pulled out of line.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous

hey friends i make change of address yesterday, online on uscis, and my noa2 date is nearby as i am also december filer...so do i have to wait more due to change of address? i am worried..please help..

Can't you wait for another month before you update your USA address? Even if you have changed your home in USA (includes all states), all you have to do is activate mail forwarding at your local post office (USPS) or you can also do the same at their website www.usps.com

AFAIK USCIS sends all documents via USPS only. And mail forwarding service is free for 6 months at no cost. If I was you, I would prefer to wait until I get my NOA2. That's just my preference and I like to play safe when I have to process something with government.

PS: I have used mail forwarding service for 5 times in the past and had never lost one mail which I was expecting to receive.

Convenience is another thing but won't you think that one should update the address with USCIS regardless of which phase your petition is in? Your mail may still be forwarded to you at your new address but USCIS might do a background check or something at any stage and find out you are not actually living at the place which you wrote in your forms. Won't it constitute to a fraud for whatever reason but still a fraud?

That change of address option is there for a reason else every petitioner could move to a different place and still get the mail through forwarding at new address. Just my thought as I don't really know about the system and how they think.
