I received my NOA2 on Nov 18 (dated the 14) for approval of my K1 Visa for my Fiancee from Armenia. I have not received anything else and today she told me the embassy called her and told her to come on Monday at 2:00 for an interview. She is to bring her passport, a copy of the passport and $150. This was her first notification of any kind. I'm assuming this is in lieu of mailing her something to give her the package of the requirements but has anybody had any experience with this before? I was planning on sending her all the originals of the affidavit of support and other docs FedEx on Tuesday. She doesn't have any of this yet, but will have it by Friday. I am assuming this is preliminary but would like some confirmation :)

I would IMMEDIATELY scan and send her all the documents you were planning to send fed-ex (I-134, tax returns, pay stubs, W-2's, etc...) She needs to bring these to the interview Monday.

There is no "preliminary" interview it is an "all in one" kind of thing. I'm amazed she never received a packet 3 (instructions and list of documents).

Has she had her physical done yet Does she have her police records? Have you completed the DS-230, 156, 156K??????

Lots of unanswered questions.

Last of all - the visa fee is $350, not $150... I'd go to your Embassy specific information here on VJ and see what you are missing...

She has received nothing. There have been no physicals, nothing. I am wondering if this is a scam, but she is to go to the embassy on Monday at 2:00. Sounding suspicious. I was planning on scanning and sending everything but am worried about what is going on.

Hmmm, something is not correct.

Your fiance should have received a packet 3 which is a list of instructions, forms needed, list of acceptable doctors for the medical, etc...

Once your finace has completed the forms and has her physical, she then notifies the embassy that she is ready for the interview and a date is set.

Either your fiance is mistaken and she DID receive the packet3 and had the interview date set or something strange is going on.

If your NOA-2 date was early November, she SHOULD have gotten something from the Embassy by now.

One thing that IS strange, is the $150 you mentioned. The visa fee is $350...

Something really is fishy. The NOA2 stated that i would receive a letter letting me know when the NVC processing center sent my petition to the Armenian embassy. I haven't received anything yet. Thanks for the help! She received an email about 4 weeks ago saying she'd won the visa diversity lottery which was a scam so someone has her information. Thats scary. Again, thanks.

I understand that many consulates have different procedures, but some things do sound a bit strange. To get your NOA2 on Nov 18, and to have an interview only a 2 weeks later is really, really fast. Most consulates do not call but do send a packet 3 as others have stated. It usually takes a month or more to get all this set up. At least. And yeah, the fee is $350. Can she call and make sure this is all on the level? Is she positive it was the consulate that called her?

It IS possible at some Embassyies to get an interview in 1-2 weeks (my fiance's Embassy in Costa Rica is like that), but the Embassy ALWAYS sends out either by mail, email or having the beneficiary pick up a packet3.

It is VERY strange for the fiance not to have received anything from the Embassy, then to be told to report there Monday with $150... Something does NOT add up.

Good idea. I'll make sure she calls the embassy first thing Monday morning.

Just a suggestion, but maybe YOU should call the Embassy first thing Monday morning...

Already planned on that one too :). Thanks.

Good plan bro. Sounds like you might need to be a little more involved here and get some answers directly from the source.

In either event. No matter what, your fiance is NOT ready for the interview if she hasn't had her physical, doesn't have the police report, or any of the DS forms completed.

I'll let you know what I find out on Monday. I appreciate your time!

Please DO update us. I'm really curious as to what happened. Either it's a terrible mix-up or something is very wrong and someone is not being honest. I would hate to think you or your fiance was being scammed for something as important as this.

I am assuming this is preliminary but would like some confirmation :)

Besides what you are planning, I'd start by calling NVC and ask for the case number, to then call the Embassy and follow up with that. I would think the Embassy would be able to find your case, but will be easier if you have it from NVC, and also trace the history of your petition.

As others had said, very strange. Calling the Embassy to verify all this is critical. Anyone can call your fiancee pretending to be from the Embassy.
