Dear Friends,

First of all, i would like to thank all of you for supporting me, sharing useful information and experience.

I received my green card today, after 40 days of arrival. It's 10 years green card unconditional because I came through IR-1.

Since I came:

Got SSn after one month

Opened bank account after one month

Got credit card from capital one after one month

Got green card after 40 days

Edited my name in the SSn today and waiting for the new ssn card with shortened middle name

Preparing for the written test for the driving license

I think I can apply for medicad

What else?

aha, looking for a job, so pray for me.

What else, what else? dunno, if you have suggestions, I would be grateful.

Thanks again for helping me in my visa journey.

Take care

You can not apply for medicaid horees, jeez now do you understand WHY a sponsor is required? They don't want immigrants coming to the united states signing up for free govt programs paid for by US tax dollars... :bonk:

Thank Alot friends for your reply. Life here is good, but I think when I get a job will be much better.

Regarding the medicad, I think that health benefits are basic human right even for green card holder. I'll share my experience after I apply for that.

I think everybody can get healthcar

It s based on your tax form. Hospital can not refuse you. Normally its paid by your employer if you have a job.

That was the big bill signed by Obama last year.

Once you arrive check for a room on Craig list. Rent a car for 3 to 5 days from airport. Look for a seconds hand car along the street. Bring back rental car and go ask for application form in restaurant, fast food and grocery shop.

Oh get a phone at wall mart for 20$ and pass new driver license.

USA is easy to start a new life unlike Europe. just take a few days to be installed with room, car, job, and make some money.

Been there many times.

During the first five years that a “qualified” alien is in the US, they are ineligible for Federal Medicaid assistance except for emergency care and pregnancy.

LPR CILDREN ARE ELIGIBLE for Medicaid!

Check it out the USCIS website, they have a complete list of rules for what is considered acceptable and unacceptable public assistance ok.
