I have a question that I need help with. What is the timeframe for getting married to my fiance in another country not america. She is from Peru, I already have fiance paperwork sent off and has been three months since i sent the paperwork and they say the average for fiance visa is 5 months but I am sure that could be shorter or longer. I am just wanting to know if we get married in her country what is the process and how long does it take for her to get to america.. Thank you

To get married in her country and then start from scratch you are looking at another 9 months give or take.

Here are the guides to give you a better ideas of the timelines and costs involved: http://www.visajourney.com/content/compare

Keep in mind that you are three months in and would be starting over and have to pay new fees. You can't just transfer your current fees and spot in-line with a new petition type.

As far as the marriage in Peru part goes, I used this as a guideline to get all my paperwork together for our civil ceremony: http://streetsofperu.blogspot.com/2009/02/how-to-get-married-in-peru.html

You will also want to send your fiancee to the Municipality where you plan to wed to get any locale-specific info on requirements. Note that there is a legal waiting period in which you have to advertise your intent to marry and the paperwork itself is a nightmare -- both time-consuming and costly. Some of it can be done in the US along with help from a Peruvian consulate here. Other things should be done in Peru. If you go this route, start studying and planning!
