Me too! Been feeling not so good in my stomach today. Keep feeling like I have to bring something up, but I don't know if I really have anything to bring up. I don't know if this is due to fasting, or what. I feel like I have something sitting in the back of my throst that I need to get out, yet I can't drink anything! AHHHHH! It's starting to bother me! So if I do end up bringing something up, not by force, can I break my fast due to that? Or what's the ruling on that? I know it's bad to force it up, but what if it just happens and you can't help it and you get sick and need to drink something? I am still try to figure out all the rules to Ramadan! Hopefully by the Eid I will have asked so many questions that I will know almost everything. Well I hope everyone is well today. Have a good rest of the day!

I just thought of one more question! but I go busy so I'll post in a sec

If you throw up involuntarily, you haven't broken your fast.

In a hadith related by Abu Hurairah (raa) the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: "Whoever is overcome by vomiting wouldn't have to make it up, but if vomiting is the result of inducement (the fast is invalidated) and would have to be made up." (Ahmed)

I've found this to be a pretty good resource for all Ramadan related questions.

Ok question:

Let's say one gets pregnant during Ramadan and doesn't find out until close to the end of Ramadan, could fasting possibly hurt the baby?

Probably not. I've known tons of women who have fasted during Ramadan and who have later had healthy babies.

No, you'll be fine inshallah. I've known women who have fasted during Ramadan. I didn't when I was pregnant only because I had awful nausea and frequent vomiting. It was almost like I was fasting anyways...I couldn't stomach most foods. I know this one Yemeni woman who fasted and she didn't look healthy at all. I wanted to force her to eat  Her baby was born healthy in the end alhamdulillah.

I was meaning the consumation happens in Ramadan and I heard that the first couple months are the most important so I wanting to know if fasting could harm. Could it hurt the developement of the fetus?

Amera-I think it's wonderful you are fasting while you are pregnant! I would be a little scared, but I would most likely fast also.

Well from what I've talked with my doctor about it's not because you are not fasting completely for the month. (As in not eating or drinking at all). I know that there were a lot of days when I couldn't eat anything (in the beginning) as it made me too sick - so all in all it's pretty safe. It's just like not eating at night - that doesn't hurt the baby you're just awake during the day so it seems more harmful.

Potentially. Those first 8 weeks are really important for development. At the very least make sure you are getting the proper nutrients and taking extra folic acid (if you are pregnant or think you might BE pregnant, or WANT to get pregnant).

In general - if you are pregnant -- DON'T FAST. It is not even expected in the religion and it is certainly dangerous. Pregnant women shouldn't go 4 hours or more without eating at least a little something.

And for those of you that are sick -- DON'T FAST. For goodness sakes, get well and then fast. It is better to be healthy and fasting.
