Hello, everyone. First, thank you all for the help that you provide on this site. I think it is quite helpful and it is very much appreciated.

My fiancée is in Mindanao in the Philippines, and there are both Muslim insurgents and Communist insurgents active there. In the past few weeks, there have been three bombings in her city, one fairly close to her own neighborhood.

Do you think this might influence USCIS to process our K-1 application more swiftly? If yes, what would be my next step(s)?

It has already been just over five months since USCIS received it (Texas Processing Center).

Thanks very much!

Kevin

Yes, they don't care if K-1 process. They do care only if you file for a political asylum.

No, those circumstances will not cause them to approve the I-129f any faster than normal.

An increase in terrorist activities might actually slow down the process, especially if they start occurring on Luzon, in Manila near Roxas Blvd and the US Embassy. An increase in the terrorist threat level may lead to increased security in and around the embassy, and that may increase processing times if they have to further limit the number of applicants that can be processed at one time. Flood, earthquakes, and tropical storms can also disrupt the process.

Nope. They will treat your application as the same manner as everybody else. Once it's approved it will be forwarded to Manila and your fiancee has to go to Manila for the Medical and interview.

PS. Philippine Army is far more equipped than those rebels. If the place of your fiancee matters, then she should be more scrutinized than approved.

Happy New Year!

Actually its possible to expedite. This are some of the reasons - try it the worst they can say is no. some people have gotten it on far less "emergent" situations.

All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and are granted at the discretion of the Director. The criteria are as follows:

•Severe financial loss to company or individual

•Extreme emergent situation

•Humanitarian situation

•Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States

•Department of Defense (including military [sic])of National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)

•USCIS error

•Compelling interest of USCIS

This issue in Mindanao has been going on since I was a baby and maybe way even before your fiancee was born so it's expected that the folks in the area are already used to it and their local government and the national government is doing something about it. Where in Mindanao is she?

He is likely talking about Zamboanga Sibugay. This is contained to the South, I hope. The rebels are not finished.. but they are likely pissed off and running out of food and more desperate.
