Hi everyone,

First of all I would like to thank visajourney and its members for providing so much of information. My husband is currently living in UK on student visa and his visa is expiring by the end of January 2012. His country of citizenship is Pakistan. I applied i-130 for him in August this year. For question # 22 on i-130 form I wrote down Islamabad embassy (Pakistan) because i dint want the interview to be scheduled in UK since he has to leave the country by January. Today I got the NVC number and it starts with LND. Does it mean that his interview will be scheduled in London?

Also if the interview is scheduled to be in London, looking at the timelines, it might take another 3-4 months for him to get an interview date in UK. Should I call NVC and ask them to change the embassy to Islamabad or should I just wait and hope to get an interview date in January? I don’t want him to be interviewed in Islamabad because I plan on going with him for the interview and it would be much easier for me to go to UK instead of Pakistan.

you need to call NVC to discuss your issue i'm not quite sure about that i guess interview is merely scheduled on the certain country where the Beneficiary is Locally from i would certainly suggest you to give them a call they will likely be able to Assist you give you precise information Thanks

We had a similar situation in that my wife is mostly in Costa Rica, but also regularly goes to Mexico where she was born. We asked NVC if we could change the embassy based on where she would be once NVC was getting ready to schedule the interview, and they said that we could use either embassy and changing it would be no issue right up to the time it was scheduled. It turned out that she was in CR rather than Mexico when we got case complete, so we never tested changing embassies, but at the time they made it sound pretty simple.

Yes

My suggestion to you is to let it ride for now, if you manage the NVC process properly, then it's very possible you will receive a case complete at the end of November and your spouse could possibly be scheduled for an interview in January.

If he must return to Pakistan prior to an interview being scheduled, then you will have to contact the NVC and explain the situation and have the file re-routed. If an interview has been scheduled for a date after the expiration of his UK visa, then you will have to contact the Embassy in Islamabad and explain the situation to them. The Embassy in Islamabad would then have to send a request to London to have the file transferred to Islamabad.
