Hi VJ members...would just like to get ideas from PINAYS...where do u plan to purchase your wedding dress? would it be better here? I do have a photo of what i wanted, got it from the internet (simple teacup wedding dress), and i am planning to have a couturier to sew it for me...do you think that would be the best thing to do? and if yes, could please someone suggest me where to go? like if someone had tried visiting a bridal shop to sew her wedding dress in the philippines. And if someone feels like its better to get the wedding dress in the US?

Any response would be appreciated...thanks gurls in advance

I m not sure how it is where you are, but here to have someone make the dress is way way way more expensive. I purchased my dress here in England as I simply could not wait but now am facing having it shipped over to the U.S or taking it as carry on on the plane! I think sending by courier will be the route to go but you know we did it this way as we have a date picked and time will be tight. If time isn't tight for you when you get there I'd suggest getting it when you arrive to save the expense and toruble of sending or carrying it. Congratulations on finding the design you like though...that's half the battle done right there ;)

my fiance send me money for my dress.

reasons:

1.cheaper here than in the US

2.i can choose the design i like,

3.something to get busy while waiting for the NOA 2

4. bonding moments with my relatives and friends here for checking the good design for me and

5. my fiance doesn't like to see the wedding dress til the wedding day for he wanted to surprise himself.

Look for a bridal shops in your area that sew wedding dresses and check on their samples to see if they sew great. bring the picture of the dress you like and compare their prizes and their works. then decide.

I suggest you do it here while waiting. If you can draw, try to design gowns now and pick the best you like. Just look for more gowns... you may still see something you'll like more. Share it to your fiance and see how he likes it. When you get there, at least no more rush where to go and all that....and the shoes too.

I got mine in the Philippines too but I got one from the mall. It's a simple one as we were just doing a small wedding ceremony here in the US. The gown cost me only a few thousand pesos whereas if I got the same style here, it would have costed more.

In what part of the Philippines are you from?

I got my dress at Tutuban mall in Divisoria... if you go there... you will get overwhelmed with the wedding dresses... Since I know beforehand that we will be having a beach wedding, i purchase a simple white dress fit for a beach wedding... and brought it with me in my carry on luggage, the gown has all the space of the 1/2 portion of the luggage to keep it from getting crumpled... cheaper and practical...

they can sew for you... the girl who attended me said as much... if you like a design but want something different for your cuff or something... they can do it too, or if you have a design you like, you can bring it with you...

Then, Divisoria or Baclaran is accessible for you. I just asked where you're from coz if you're in the province, it would just be better to have a seamstress from the same area.

Yes, they could make the dress for you in Divisoria or Baclaran because my friend's wedding gown as well as the entourage's dresses were sewn in a shop in Divisoria. You just have to shop around and try if you can get some feedback from their previous customers so you can be assured of good quality at a good price.

Best wishes for your wedding and good luck on your visa journey! :)
