NOA1 7/27, No Status Updates Since

Hi all,

We received our NOA1 on 7/27/11 and got the hard copy in the mail a few days later (petition processing at VSC). I know it's too soon to be expecting the NOA2 approval notice, but I signed up for an account at USCIS website thinking I'd at least be able to see updates (touches) to let us know the case is winding it's way through the pipes. However, the case is still showing the same date for "last updated" as when we received our NOA1. Does this mean our file hasn't been touched at all? Is that normal? Or did I misunderstand the info I got here about what the USCIS account would show about the case? I had thought "touches" would be viewable this way.

I hadn't checked it in a few weeks, but checked back today and I was a little disappointed and concerned that it still shows the same "last updated" date. Am I worried over nothing?

Don't be worried! Our NOA1 was received June 13, 2011 and the USCIS website showed June 15, 2011 the entire time until approved almost 4 months later! I'm not sure if I even consider a date 2 days after receiving as "a touch" but I was trying to feel hopeful at the time! LOL I know how you feel and yes it's disappointing and frustrating to say the least. You just have to be patient with "the unknown" for now and soon you will hear good news I'm sure!

yes you are... very few petitions seem to get 'touched'. the USCIS website is just there to tell you the status of your case and even then it might not be accurate

Don't be worried! Our NOA1 was received June 13, 2011 and the USCIS website showed June 15, 2011 the entire time until approved almost 4 months later! I'm not sure if I even consider a date 2 days after receiving as "a touch" but I was trying to feel hopeful at the time! LOL I know how you feel and yes it's disappointing and frustrating to say the least. You just have to be patient with "the unknown" for now and soon you will hear good news I'm sure!

Wow, that's good to know, thanks. We've been trying to maintain a "no news is good news" attitude and not obsess over things during the wait for approval (not easy, I'm sure you know). I've kind of avoided reading too many threads here because every time I see some problem someone has encountered I started worrying about our case having the same problems! Anyway, thanks for the info, it's reassuring, and I can go back to waiting patiently (sort of ).

you can call but you will get the same answer everyone else gets... they will tell you not to call again until it has been at least 5 month from NOA1

You could call them but I wouldn't waste my time at this point. They'll only tell you what you already know and they typically don't "look further into" your case until it's past their current processing time which is 5 months right now. Just be patient, you'll hear something soon I'm sure. I know how hard it is. We just got our NOA2 on September 30th, just about 1 week short of 4 months (109 days) so I'm grateful for that much. Now, we're getting anxious awaiting our NVC case number as it's 2 weeks today and still nothing! Good luck on the rest of your journey!

'Touched' really only means scanned anyway and this can occur when your petition is just moved from one desk to another so is of no real significance. An update of status doesn't seem to be a priority for them so many petitions go right through to approval and beyond without the status moving from 'Initial Review'. If yours is updated that's all fine but don't worry if nothing happens to it - it is not a reliable measure of what is happening to the status of your petition. Best of luck with the waiting.

Robert,... to what service center was your application forwarded? Vermont? California?? (not sure, what the others are)

You and I and someone else on here just yesterday said their NOA1 date was also 7/27.

Make no promises, but if your app was sent to Vermont, then... from all indications of the people here recently receiving the NOA2, ... we should hopefully be gettting some good news about the end of this month, mas o menos.

I've estimated between October 27 and Nov 4.

But, it could be a day or two sooner.

Or, much later,... as some other dysafortnados know.
