Dear all,

I use EP to apply IR5 for my mother, she will go to Guangzhou to interview two weeks later.

I want to get all original certificates (except Police) back after interview, so I prepare copies for all certificates.

Do I need to give all the copies while document intake, or bring the copies to interview, and give them to visa officer after interview approved?

Thanks!

Usually, the originals if required, must be submitted before the interview. You should get it back either during the interview or it may be included in the packet that they give you when your visa is approved. But don't open the packet as it's for the officer to open at the point of entry in the US. He/she will give it back to you once you've received the stamp on your passport.

I got my GC based on an F2B which later converted to an F2A. It took close to 10yrs during which I tried applying for the DV unsuccessfully. My GF who is a first time applicant got selected for DV2015! We're keeping our fingers crossed.

You will need originals at the interview, you can bring a real good copy with you. When you get your packet do not open, you will give to immigration officer on entry to USA.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Thanks for your reply.

So while give documents to officer the day before interview, do I also need to give the certificate copies to them?

Thanks!

Assume that originals submitted at any phase of the immigration/naturalization process will not be returned. For most documents copies are sufficient unless an original/certified copy is specified.

Bring the original plus a photocopy to document intake day.

On interview day, when the interview is finished - do not leave the counter -

ask for the originals back. If any issue about this, ask the VO to review the file once more, he'll find the copies that were given the day prior, on document intake day.
