Folks:

I have to ask a stupid question that no one answered yet and probably no one even noticed:

Do you fill out the I-864 / I-864EZ, and other forms, using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS?

Or you just do it regular way, capitalize where you think it should, and lower case where it seems more natural?

I asked because on the very first line of the I-864 instruction it says using CAPITAL LETTERS.

If you interpret it literally, it mean ALL CAPITAL letters and it still means ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. And it could mean if they find one lower case letter your form is thrown away!!!

Or they really do not mean it, it was just a recommendation and lower cases are fine?

What do you guys think? Gosh I finished everything already and now I noticed that sentence in the instruction!

I did my 864 in ALL CAPS and it was accepted and no RFEs.

I also did the 230 in all caps (even though it is not required) but it is not accepted yet...

I filled out my I-864EZ in all caps per the instructions. I didn't think it was necessary and I saw posts in old threads that if you type, you can type the normal way. To end the conflict, I deferred to the instructions on the form.

you are already done with NVC? So whatever you did must have passed. So, do not worry about it. If you want to do another form in all caps and bring to your interview in 1 month just in case...that sounds ok. But I think you passed nvc.

So you tell us....did you do ALL CAPS except one letter or did you do it normal way of typing or did you do???

I did mine typed, and where I could not, in all caps. Easier to read for the staff I suppose.

I doubt they'll throw it away if it's in "normal" writing, as long as they can read it, but it's always better to follow the instructions, may make them like you a bit more :)

NVC just makes sure all your documents are in order and nothing is missing. It is not their job to scrutinize things. I did pass through NVC already and my wife is waiting to be interviewed.

I typed my AOS forms, mostly in all capital letters but a few spot in lower case letters, like the address where all caps simply would not fit. I was un-conscious about this all capital letter thing in the instruction until today.

Hope they only mean to make sure things clearly readable. For writting, yes you have to use all capital letter, or the writtings are not very readable, at least for some folks. For typing I see no reason to insist on capital letters.

Maybe they should have improved the instruction a little bit. If you just started your paperwork, you probably should err on the cautious side and do everyting in capital letters, literrally following the instruction to every single word. I know it sounds silly.
