B.S. The border fence was built by the California National Guard starting in the 1980's.

The CBP is responsible for the current border fence in San Diego.

Then this report to Congress must be false, contain inaccurate information or CBP really doesn't know who put that fence there.

According to this, my original comment is not "BS."

Border Security:

Barriers Along the U.S. International Border

Summary

Congress has repeatedly shown interest in examining and expanding the barriers being deployed along the U.S. international land border. The 109th Congress passed a number of laws affecting these barriers, and oversight of these laws and of the construction process may be of interest to the 110th Congress. The United States Border Patrol (USBP) deploys fencing, which aims to impede the illegal entry of individuals, and vehicle barriers, which aim to impede the illegal entry of vehicles (but not individuals) along the border. The USBP first began erecting barriers in 1990 to deter illegal entries and drug smuggling in its San Diego sector. The ensuing 14 mile-long San Diego "primary fence" formed part of the USBP's "Prevention Through Deterrence" strategy, which called for reducing unauthorized migration by placing agents and resources directly on the border along population centers in order to deter would-be migrants from entering the country. In 1996, Congress passed the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act which, among other things, explicitly gave the Attorney General (now the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security) broad authority to construct barriers along the border and authorized the construction of a secondary layer of fencing to buttress the completed 14 mile primary fence.

I have firsthand knowledge that disputes your assumptions based on the report. The California National Guard began "assisting" the CBP in the mid 1980s with antismuggling operations in the ports of California, and in the 14 mile long area known at the time as "Smugglers Alley" from the Pacific Ocean to Otay Mesa. Later, they began building access roads and installing stadium lights. The last effort before Desert Shield and Storm was the construction of a single cable barrier to prevent vehicles from crossing the border. When California National Guard resources were directed overseas, the CBP had to conduct its effort without the use of those resources.

They take the jobs the white person rejects such as fastfood, washing dishes, car washing and moping floor work.

Temporary Workers

If you want to work in the U.S. temporarily as a nonimmigrant, under U.S. immigration law, you need a specific visa based on the type of work you will be doing. Most temporary worker categories require that the applicant's prospective employer or agent to file a petition which must be approved by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) before you can apply for a visa. To learn about petitions and more, see Temporary Workers and Employers-Hiring a Foreign National for Short-Term Employment on the USCIS website.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

They also do much better at it than the brain dead high school drop-outs or the stumbling winos.

Interestingly enough, when Alabama's tough new immigration went into effect there, farmers are now grappling with tons of produce just rotting on the vine. Because no one else will pick it. http://www.11alive.com/news/article/208081/40/Tough-new-immigration-law-hits-Alabama-farmers

The guy in the story tried to get the governor to pick up one of those tomato buckets to show him heavy and unwieldy the darn thing is, but he wouldn't try it.

People will scream bloody murder about what food really truly costs to put on their plates, whether at home, or even more so at restaurants, when there's no Miguel or Antonio around to pick the tomatoes for their cheeseburger or caprese salad, or bus their table at the restaurant, cook their entree and run the restaurant dishwasher when their food is ate.

You reference to my comment as "B.S." when it is all contained in a CR wasn't really the "B.S." you exclaimed. But if you want to dig your heels in with this "I have firsthand knowledge that disputes your assumptions based on the report." Anything to support your first hand knowledge? Surely if I made such a claim, you would demand the same.

It was a joint-task with the Kiewit Corp having the contract, major in work from the Army Corp of Engineers, especially in Smuggler's Gulch and help from the California National Guard, all sprear headed by the CBP.

I too have some first hand knowledge, I went to view Smuggler's Gulch as that phase of the project was underway. I wanted to see the hills that would be shaved for the massive amount of fill dirt needed in that area. But my first hand knowledge isn't worth much either, however, it is to me.

As I re-read the comments we both made, I think more detailed comments from the beginning would have put this to rest early on. California did not build the fence (the California National Guard contributed), it was a CBP project in conjunction with The Army Corps of Engineers. Now, I'm done.

SACRAMENTO (Reuters) - California Governor Jerry Brown on Saturday signed a controversial bill dubbed the "Dream Act" that would allow illegal immigrants to receive public funds for college education.

"Going to college is a dream that promises intellectual excitement and creative thinking," Brown said in a statement issued by his office.

"The Dream Act benefits us all by giving top students a chance to improve their lives and the lives of all of us," he said.

I'm curious as to how the Governor defines "top students". If the bill specified that the state would aid students with a GPA of 4.0..okay, I would care less, but I don't see that in there.

Benefits us all? Yes, because the problem with our economy is that there simply isn't enough college graduates in California to fill the high demand for jobs. Just ask the people who are part of the "Occupy" movement. They'll tell ya.

The Feds sure don't have a problem putting the screws to states like Arizona and Georgia for upholding existing laws, but when states like California p*ss all over US immigration laws, the Feds are nowhere to be seen.

They finally buried Smuggler's Gulch? Good deal. Much better than putting a couple folks in a spider hole watching mules packing drugs all night.

Yeah, Smuggler's Gulch is history. What was just as bad as the mules coming across was the hundreds of illegals that would rush across en masse and overwelm the border patrol agents. I remember when Cal Trans put the fence on top of the K rails in the center divider of the 5 fwy after a several deaths of people running across the fwy.
