Hello all, we just received our NOA2 approval from USCIS this week (Oct 4th). Our NOA1 date was June 1st.

My wife is from Pune and I have been reading that the Mumbai consulate is currently back-logged. Is there any way to change the consulate where her interview will take place (to Chennai or Delhi)? Has anyone ever successfully tried this? Can this be done with the NVC?

2/13/2010: Met in Korea

1/21/2011: Married in Tacloban City

USCIS (135 days)

2/23/2011: sent I-130 and I-129f

3/6/2011: received NOA1 for I-130

3/16/2011: received NOA1 for I-129f

6/17/2011: received NOA2 for I-130 and I-129f

NVC(74 Days)

7/18/2011: NVC received and case number assigned

7/20/2011: NVC Administratively closes I-129f

7/30/2011: emailed DS-3032

8/24/2011: FINALLY received AOS Fee and PAID also sent DS-3032 for the third time (PAID on 8/25)

8/26/2011: Received DS-3032 Acceptance email

9/01/2011: Received IV fee and paid (PAID on 9/02)

9/07/2011: Delivered I-864 and DS-230 to NVC (mailed on 9/06/2011)

9/12/2011: RFE For using expired DS-230 found here on VJ

9/19/2011: Sent to NVC new DS-230 and Japanese police clearance

9/23/2011: Case Complete

Manila Consulate(39 days)

9/30/2011: Manila Consulate receives Case and Schedules interview

11/02/2011: Medical at St. Lukes Medical Extension Center 11/03/2011-Medical Finished and everything is GOOD!

11/08/2011: Interview scheduled at Manila Consulate-Approved

11/15/2011: Visa in Hand

11/19/2011: POE Atlanta

Since your wife is in the jurisdiction of the Consulate in Mumbai, it is unlikely the NVC will entertain the notion of sending your file elsewhere.

If you wanted to attempt to have your file transferred after the NVC completes the case. The Embassy in New Delhi or the Consulate in Chennai would have to be willing to accept it before they would make a request to have the file transferred and the reasons for wanting the file transferred would probably have to be compelling (wanting your file transferred only because of the current caseload at Mumbai would not be sufficiently compelling).

Since your wife is in the jurisdiction of the Consulate in Mumbai, it is unlikely the NVC will entertain the notion of sending your file elsewhere.

This is correct. I doubt unless there are dire and good circumstances will NVC allow you to do this. If there was a mistake on there front than I can see it happening but not to gain quicker interview date.

Sorry, but the consulate is asigned based on the address provided in the DS-230. NVC made a mistake in assigning us with Mumbai, so we could get it changed to Chennai because of our address (Andhra Pradesh).

01/08/13 - Approved and GC is order for production on 1/8/14

09/12/13 - Case transferred to CSC. NOA2 received on 09/18/13

08/30/13 - Biometrics Done - No walk ins allowed at this LSC (received on 8/16/13).

08/05/13 - NOA1 (received on 08/10/13)

08/01/13 - Mailed I-751 (received on 8/2/13 - check cashed on 8/5/13)

12/28/11 - Received SSN (applied on 12/20/11, as we didn't get based on DS-230 options)

Just submit your packet 3 as soon as Dept of State (call the DoS number) tells you that your Packet 3 is issued.

Your interview date will be within 1 month of your submission, as long as you don't end up submitting your Packet 3 in the last 2-3 days of the month.

The OP's wife is seeking a CR-1 visa, there is no issuing of a packet 3 in these cases. Furthermore, the State Department number you reference may not be useful in these cases until the NVC completes the case and sends it to the appropriate Embassy/Consulate.

Your post is only germane to K1 visa procedures, not CR-1 procedures. Procedures in K1 and CR-1 process are not interchangeable.
