Hi VJ members,

Just wanted to share our AOS interview experience with you all since you have been sooo helpful in guiding us through this whole AOS process. We're on a tight budget so we did this all without a lawyer so thank you for saving us thousands of dollars! =P

Our interview was yesterday at 12:45 PM...we took BART and arrived at the office around 12:15 (got lost for a little bit but found our way lol). There weren't that many people in line but it took a few minutes to wait for our security check. My husband and I checked in around 12:25 and got called in at about 12:55 PM. To our pleasure, the IO seemed very professional and pleasant. God had definitely answered our prayers. :) She ushered us into the room, made us take the oath to tell the truth, asked for our ID's, and then began going over the I-485 form w/ my husband (the beneficiary) and verifying all the information was correct. She also took his I-94 right away and attached it to his file which seemed like a good sign and made us feel more at ease. She continued to look over the file, then began asking us both questions.

To my hubby:

1) What is your spouse's name? When is her birthday?

2) Where do you live? Are you on the rental agreement? (which he isn't, to which I explained that I couldn't add him yet without SS#/ITIN )

3) Who lives with you?

4) Have you ever left the country since you first entered?

5) Do you remember what purpose you came to the US in the first place? (my husband was only a minor when he came here)

6) What do you do for work?

To me/both of us:

1) Have you met his family?

2) How did you guys meet? (She seemed entertained by our story and even laughed w/ us :)

In the middle of all this, she asked if we had more bonafide marriage docs and any photos so we handed over some utility bills/joint checking statement/health insurance coverage and took out our wedding album and another album of our honeymoon and dating pictures.

She commented that she liked my wedding dress and asked about random people in the photos. She also asked me if had went down on one knee when he proposed, She skimmed over the other album and asked about our honeymoon trip and one of my husband's tattoos that she saw in a picture and also about our dog. lol

After looking over the photos, she asked if there was anything else I wanted to show that we lived together and I took out a bunch of correspondence/invitations addressed to us and she didn't even look over them. She wrote down more notes, stamped the file, then shut it...and scanned it! She then she said something to this effect, "I'll be reviewing your file more, but wait for the green card for 2-3 weeks in the mail and be aware about removing conditions before your 2 years are up." She handed us a paper with "further review" checked and asked if we had any more questions. We were a little confused with the outcome, but left in good spirits. Whole thing only lasted like 15-20 minutes in all and wasn't scary like we thought it would be. My husband had a good feeling she was going to approve us, but I was still a little uncertain with the "further review" box checked.

About an hour later, while we were eating to celebrate a good interview experience, I got a text/e-mail notification: "I-485: card production ordered"

Sooo...I'm guessing this means that my husband is approved!? Is there supposed to be another notification of approval? And what about the I-130? Ours is still showing under "initial review."

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again!!! Visajourney is so awesome. And GOD is sooo good!!! I know this journey seems unending and gets frustrating at times, but have faith and never lose hope!!!

Yes, you're approved. Congrats. The next notice you get should be the "Welcome" letter.

When a petition is concurrently filed they sometimes hold the approval of the petition pending the approval of the I-485. Since the I-485 has been approved the petition will almost always automatically be approved.

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!
