Hi VJers,

I noticed on the electronic DS-156 form there is a place for the person who is preparing the application to sign, and for the benificiary. Does this mean I can prepare the application for my fiance - if so it would be much easier for us both b/c I have easier access to internet, scanners, printers, etc.

Thanks!

Yes, you can fill out out or else they wouldn't put it there. That spot is for anyone to help assist the beneficiary including lawyers.

However, NO you shouldn't scan and email it because than your signature is not authentic. It's like if your fiancee signed her G325A or her letter of intent to marry and then scan and emailed it to you. It wouldn't be accepted, same rule applies here.

So be safe, sign it and DHL it to her.

Please correct me if I am wrong here, but I think thats how it should be done.

I actually was doing some more reading last night, and the form that the fiance(e) has to fill out is actually the DS-156K, which is not electronic. So - I guess the electronic DS-156 is irrelevant. I think the embassy sends them the DS-156K. It is also available for download here: http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_1342.html
