Which POE?

Hello fellow VJ members.

I need your help onec more again. My fiancée will fly around the end of October. Which POE is the best and how long was the immigration process so that I can arrange her transfer. Any experience input is very appreciable.

No POE is better than another... fly to wherever your fiance lives and is closed, unless you're planning on traveling around the U.S. or something beforehand..?

Have your fiance fly to whichever POE makes the most sense for where you live. Just be advised that the DAY and TIME she flies has more effect on her wait time than anything else. If you can arrange a mid-week flight that arrives either very early morning (5am - 6am) or one that arrives late (9pm+), the number of international flights arriving at a POE is reduced and so is the wait time. The worst time to go through a POE is peak travel times (9:00am - 6:00pm). Fridays and weekends also seem to have the most delays - but this varies greatly depending on the POE.

I recommend at least having a 4 hour window for a connecting flight (and sometimes that is not enough time). Ideally, she'd arrive early in the morning and catch a flight late afternoon to fly to your city.

But ultimately everyone is right, it doesn't really matter where, just whatever is convienent.

All about the same. JFK will usually be busy and you have long lines so allow 4 hours between flights if the POE is at JFK airport

We're going with the most direct flight possible. England to California is 11 hours at best and I have taken 29 hours for the same flight with layovers and connections. I want it to go as quickly and smoothly as possible, so I made sure that LAX was the POE. I guess it depends on how long you can wait.

All about the same. Washington, DC will usually be busy with Ethiopian Airlines and you have no long lines so allow 2 hours at POE.

But if she still need help in Amharic, the POE in Washington, DC are Ethiopian friendly b/c Ethiopian Airlines comes to DC from all way from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and more and more Ethiopians use DC for POE and they know how to help Ethiopians with out English language.
