I am taking my first international flight since my green card was issued. I see that the airline wants to know my GC number before taking off. What is that? Is it the A# or is there some other number? Thank you

The "airline" wants to know your Green Card number? How do they even know that you have a Green Card?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . when you fill in your personal information in compliance with the patriot act yadda yadda, as soon as you type that you are other than a USC, the website populates other fields, one of which goes like "proof of green card: yes - no". if you click no, then they ask you for your home address, but it clearly says that it does not apply to permanent residents. if you click yes, then it asks the GC number. quite annoying, but it's Air France, after all...

Probably not the best thing to do. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some section of the INA stating that if you ever gave a fake address to an airline, you can be deported.

A lot of airlines have a pre-screen online now. I have been asked for my passport number the last few times I booked. I believe it's called the "Secure Flight" program.
