Hello, my fiance is Moroccan but he is moving to Mozambique soon. I was wondering if we could file for the K-1 visa out of the US embassy in Mozambique instead of Morocco or will he have to go back to Morocco for interviews and such since he is not a citizen of Mozambique.

Thanks.

Yes, he can apply for the K-1 visa at the Mozambique US consulate. However, you should be able that your fiancée moved there not for visa reason. The Embassy at Mozambique might consider he moved there for the visa reason and gives some hard time by putting him in AP. So if you decide to have the interview there, you should have ample evidence to prove that he is not there for the visa. This will add more stress on the top of proving the relationship between you and your fiancée.

Good Luck

I agree with what Love Eth has said. When Pui had her interview she met a lady who interviewing the same day as her who was from the Philippines. When she interviewed there was about 5 questions about why she was interviewing in Thailand and why she did not go back home to interview. She answered the questions she was asked and she did receive her visa. She is now here in the US and was at our wedding. Just be prepared to answer questions at the interview why you are not interviewing in Morocco. I also looked at the question and answer on the embassy's website in Mozambique and here is what they said:

http://maputo.usembassy.gov/visa_questions.html

Q16: If I am visiting Mozambique but I live elsewhere can I apply for a visa?

• If you are not a resident of Mozambique, you are encouraged to apply in your country of residence where it will be easier for you to prove your ties and for the Consular Officer to evaluate your case.

Thailand's question and answer is a little different from Mozambique's though. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant_visas/frequently-asked-questions.html

Q: I am a citizen of another country, and would like to apply for a visa while in Thailand. Can I do so?

A: While it is the policy of U.S. Embassy Bangkok to accept visa applications from anyone physically present in our consular district, we strongly recommend that you make your application in your country of nationality or residence. Should you choose to apply in Bangkok, and you are not a Thai citizen or a long-term resident of Thailand, it may be quite difficult for the adjudicating consular officer to make a determination regarding your case. Additionally, while many visas are able to be issued within 3-4 days of the interview, if there are any delays it could have a significant impact on the timing of your return travel. Please note that the Kingdom of Bhutan falls within New Delhi’s consular district, and applicants from Bhutan are encouraged to apply there.

Good luck OP.
