My mother who is a USC and currently living in the US filed the petition for me way back April 14, 1998 and it was approved last July 21, 2011. I am currently residing in the Philippines and an unmarried child over 21.

I received the following notice:

Application Type: I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On July 26, 2011, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

What can I expect from now? How long will it take for a visa to be available for me?

Any information will be much appreciated. Thank you.

It'll be just over a year until your priority date becomes current, if things stay the same (may be a few months more or less). Then you'll have a medical and interview, and hopefully approved for your visa.

Thank you very much Penguin_ie for an informative answer. I am really hoping that everything will go smoothly.

you have to check every month the visa bulletin, over a year or two more of waiting, they are in 1997. no one can exactly know when your priority date will become current.

the i130 will be sent to the NVC. then in the future, your mother will have to pay for more forms and send forms and documents until the file is complete, when everthing is said and done, you will have the interview.
