Hey Vjrs my interview is on september 20 and my boyfriend is coming from El Paso to Juarez to join me so we need any advice on how to cross the border I mean it's safe to take a taxi or it's better walking please help because his flight is on saturday! T

By the way we never received any aceptance letter (or packet 3)not even in USA and we called to Juarez (the call center) and they told us it's ok to schedule an appointment after 6 weeks of waiting for nothing so we're planning to ask for the letter in the consulate information booth Thank you and wish us luck! =D

Here is my experience. I called when I found out my application went to the Consulate from NVC. The call center did not have any news when the Packet 3 will be ready. The official told me to call every week. I did so. No new news. Then one day I called. He said my fiancée’s Packet 3 was just sent out. I asked if I can schedule her appointment before she gets the packet 3. He said that I can. I did so. My fiancée never got a packet. I received a one page letter in the mail a few days later. I guess that was the invitation letter.

But I think you do not need that. Your DS-260 Confirmation page is what gets you in along with passport and having an appointment.

I hope this helps you. Best of luck. :)

What the consulate would send you would be a one page letter. There is no actual 'packet'. The letter would contain the link to their website where the instructions and forms you need are located. The information letter is also needed in Juarez, so if you do not receive one, you should ask at the information window at the consulate to print one out for you because you never received one in the mail.

Here is the website: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/fianceforms.html

This is the 'packet'. It has all the instructions about what you need to bring to the interview: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ciudadjuarez/231771/PDFs/K1%20PACKET%20COMPLETE%20_July2011%20UPDATES_.pdf
