hello vj'rs!!! I hope i am posting in the right place, lol OK so i have been on this site for about 5 or 6 months now. I read alot of posts on here and get alot of information but never really say much, first of all thx for all the info people provide. anyway, getting to my question.... My fiance is from Morocco, he is a very smart man, except one thing, he quit school!!! And now i am worried because i have read on the DV lottery site that if you have not graduated or have an GED, you cannot file for the lottery. Is this true for any visa?? He is really smart and good at alot of things. We have not filed yet for lack of funds, i am wondering if i should talk to him about going back to school before we file and have him graduate. I did tell him when he comes here it will be very different here and you can't talk your way into a job. Most all employers want an education. I really miss him but i want him to be ready to come here and not have a problem finding a job. I just dont know how to go about saying this to him. I dont want him to think i think he is stupid because he is not. just wondering opinions on this matter of education, and if anyone knows details on the subject or maybe knows someone who came here and did not graduate from highschool. thank you in advance for all of your answers!! :) :)

THe K-1 visa is completely different from the visa lottery, and has no education requirement. However, it will be very difficult for him to find a job with no degree, and being a foreigner.

If he's gonna be here as your husband I'd advise him to get at least a high school diploma. I've even seen college graduates working in mall kiosks. I know you love him but either one of you will be the provider...are you willing to be the one? You might be deeply in love as of now, but I know you also think about your future so better talk to him about it and make your point clear to him without offending him. :)

Well in this economy even people born in the US with masters and PHD's are out of work, just tell him that it will be very competative and a high school diploma will help his chances of finding a decent job. Depending on where in the USA you are living, also before he gets here try looking for some jobs for him, there fore you can make it easier for him when he gets here. dosent hurt to be prepared. =)

I do think it's a good idea, I will certainly talk to him about it. I don't think he realizes how hard it will be without some kind of educational background. I for one wished i had gone to college. I only graduated from high school and want more for my 2 children i already have. I'm sure i can slide that into our conversation this evening. Thank you again for the replies i received.
