I am holding 5 years US Permanent Resident based on asylum and wants to apply for Naturalization. But I had 2x trips to my home country for about 4 months each to taking care my sick father. My question is: do I still eligible to receive naturalization because I was going back to my home country in such relatively long time? Any help. Thank you.

As long as you have been physically in the US for 30 months in the preceding 5 years, then you are fine. Did you get asylum in the U.S. based on your statement that you would face severe danger or prosecution in your home country and thus could not go back there?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . If I were the I.O. and had the O.P.'s N-400 on my desk, that would be among the first questions I would ask, as the answer could lead to the determination that the asylum was based on fraud.

Agreed!!! OP took asylum but he went back for 4 months to his home country to take care of his sick father. Makes me wonder?
