Does anyone know, is the petitioner (husband) authorized to attend the interview @ the Manila US Embassy with the beneficiary (wife) or and is a separate appointment needed to do so. In other words, is additional authorization needed or can I just show up with my wife at appointment time?

You can go but she will do her own interview for K1, as far as I know.

Forgot look under the country for other who have discussed this and their experiences.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

I would email the embassy directly. I was told I would not be permitted to attend and when I emailed the Embassy I was told that I was welcome to join as long as I brought my passport to prove my identity and citizenship. I think that they cannot refuse entry to an American to what is technically American "soil" (being an American Embassy).

As far as the interview itself... I believe on a K1 that you will not be allowed in the actual interview. But can go to the Embassy with her??? We are doing a CR1 and were told that they prefer to have both of us at the entire interview.

Here is a link to your embassy http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html

Also the email address for them is: IVManilaReplies@state.gov

Hope this helps!

You can go with her to the interview (they will let you in the US consulate w/your passport)...

It does not mean you will get to attend the interview. That is up to the consulate officer.

In our case, he invited me into the interview and spent most of the time asking me questions,,,

just some light conversation.

YMMV...

I attended also. I was not permitted in for the interview but the moral support you both get is great. of course during the interview Trisha was able to leak it out in questions that I was in the waiting area.

I think you get the general drift here:

1) Every embassy is different--some pretty much require the spouse at the interview and some prohibit it and others will let the spouse in if he/she is there

2) Do read about your embassy at the portal above

3) If it isn't crystal clear--and even if it is--send an email or call to check, but nothing is better than the experience of folks who have had interviews VERY recently--it doesn't matter what the embassy did six months ago

I can tell you for absolutely sure, I went to USEM Manila and was present for the entire interview for K1 with my filipina fiance, and so were 2 or 3 other Americans. We had the interview in Aug 11, 2011. No PROBLEM AT ALL. Go if you can, its worth it.

Every american fiance that I saw in there stood right next the the filipina at the interview window with the C.O. In our case, he asked me some questions then asked her some. If you show up and you came a long way for the interview its clearly evidence that suppports that your relationship is legitimate. We had a super nice CO - bald american guy in his 40's.

Good luck. Plus FYI, USC can bring cell phones into the embassy too.

Peace.

Thank you all for your insight. I will be there with my wife. Nothing could keep me away. And I agree that traveling 10000 to attend the interview says something quite positive about the nature of the relationship.

What a great bunch of people you all are.
