or are there several hurdles we'll need to address and overcome?

We're aware of certain criteria that may raise red flags, but there may be other issues we may be unaware of that we'd like to be able address. Maybe we're being paranoid or overly cautious, however, we'd appreciate your input.

Here are our similarities and differences:

1) I (the USC lady) am 35 y/o and HE (the egyptian gentleman) is 28 y/o.

2) Both of us have Master's Degrees: ME= MA in Labor Relations and an MFA. HIM=Economy.

3) Neither of us have children.

4) Both of us have never been married; single.

5) I am Catholic; He is muslim (I know, I know....)

6) My career has been in arts & entertainment, almost in it's entirety (music and film). His career has been in economy, although he worked in publishing for a while.

7) He is currently unemployed (laid off), but has his finances in order. I work for an entertainment union and also have my finances in order. (I don't know if having a career in politics may be a double-edged sword... who knows?)

8) I have met his family and communicate with them on a daily basis. HE communicates with my parents. (of course, there's proof).

9) We both are fluent in English (as you may observe). I speak Spanish; He speaks arabic.

10) BY the time of the interview, it'll be the third time, in a year, that I visit him. (again, there's proof).

11) He only has 1 cousin in New York. His entire family is in Egypt.

12) He's never applied for a visa before.

13) I've never petitioned for anyone before.

14) By the time of interview, we'll be corresponding for over a year.

Is there anything else we should be aware of?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I have no soecific experience with Cairo so I cannot specifically answer. Age and religion CAN be problems in these countries and all problems can be overcome with proper documentation. Good preparation is always the key and you have plenty of time to do that.

Good luck

it depends on the consulate that's a hard one. the uscis only have a few simple requirements, but by the time it reaches Egypt a lot can change.

I have no clue what you are talking about or trying to ask, but I will try to help.

first the uscis, doesn't care about your similarity and differences. the uscis only wants certain requirements to be met before you can start the k1 process. the requirements are very simple; two of you have to have met in the last 2 yrs, you meet the poverty income requirement, you petitioner having been convicted of any violent crimes (any type of crime for the beneficiary is a problem) both are free to marry

I should've made it clearer, I apologize. This is not for USCIS. I already sent the I-129F packet.

These are some of the "things" embassies look at to determine whether there's a possibility of fraud. In MENA countries these issues are particularly looked at under a microscope. So yes, age difference and religious beliefs are taking into consideration.

I think its pretty simple....and straight forward. Of course, you never know how the interview will go, I dont see any immediate red flags. Im Christian and my husband is Muslim and that was never an issue. You dont have a duge age difference, you dont have kids, equal on education. I think you need to relax and just take a deep breath. In my opinion you should be fine. If they suspect anything you will know it by the complexity of the interview. Just make sure you take all your proof on everything. Best wishes and good luck. Do you have an interview date yet?

Thank you for your encouragement and kindness. I'm still waiting on the NOA 2, which judging by the timeline here, I should be receiving between tomorrow and August 31st. That'll be awesome! I leave to Egypt Sept. 2nd. I've made copies of -you name it- everything. Not to mention, our parents sent notarized letters. I'm confident everything will be ok, but I just wanted to be educated on this matter.

GRacias :)

Just be honest with everything they ask. Take your proof and if things are in order you should be good. They look at alot of things and into his info. So if no surprises then you should do good. Have a great time there...I wish we could go back right now to spend time with the family. Take lots of photos.

Hey there :)

actually to be honest with you this consulate drove me crazy since they have no measures and everything depends on the consular him or herself but your case looks pretty nice since both of you have a master degree, both of you are working and etc...

the only thing that might be a red flag is the age thing but I have seen many people get approved right away and take the visa within a week despite the age gap was kind of big.

I don't understand what do you want to do actually since you have applied for I-129F which is a visa for fiancee. are you going to get married in Egypt this time?? is he going to go with the I-129F's visa?? are you guys going to file CR1 after getting married in Egypt??

you better know what you want to do exactly since this trip is not easy and taking a long time and any mistake might cost you months of waiting.

Good luck :)
