CAIRO (AP) — Militant online forums are abuzz with calls to Muslims in Britain to launch Internet campaigns in support of the British rioters and to urge them to topple the government.

Dozens of contributors on Wednesday suggested Muslims in Britain should flood social media websites, such as Facebook and Twitter, with slogans and writings inciting the British youth to continue rioting.

One contributor says the rioters should adopt slogans similar to those used by Arab protesters during the uprisings in the Middle East this year.

"The people want the killer of Mark Duggan punished" is suggested — a reference to the British man whose death sparked the riots.

Another contributor says an Internet media attack is very important and that "chaos is useful to militants in London."

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Britain crackdown unacceptable: Ahmadinejad

AFP – 11 hrs ago

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad strongly condemned on Wednesday what he called the "savage" crackdown by British police on rampaging youths, the state television's website reported.

"This savage treatment of people is absolutely unacceptable, and British statesmen must hear the voice of the people and grant them freedoms," Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying.

"British politicians should look to help their own people instead of invading Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya to plunder their oil."

Ahmadinejad said part of the British public has "lost its patience and become frustrated," and urged London to "get on the people's side and change their management, instead of using such approaches."

He criticised the UN Security Council for remaining "silent" over the developments in Britain, which is experiencing its worst unrest in decades.

Riots raged into a fifth day on Wednesday as youths ran amok in Manchester and the industrial Midlands, but London was quiet after British Prime Minister David Cameron boosted the police presence in the capital to 16,000.

He said after meeting top security officials a "fightback" had begun against Britain's worst riots in a generation, as he authorised the use of water cannon for the first time outside Northern Ireland.

Scotland Yard said early on Wednesday that 768 people had been arrested and 111 police officers have been injured in the disorder.

"Even if one hundredth of these crimes were to happen in countries opposed to the West, the United Nations and other organisations claiming to defend human rights would vehemently decry it," Ahmadinejad added.

"The stage has now been set for testing the UN Security Council to see whether it will condemn one of its own permanent members," he added.

Iranian foreign ministry on Wednesday issued a travel warning for its citizens not to visit Britain.

"It is requested that Iranian citizens not travel to Britain in the current situation and if there is a necessity for the trip to avoid the restive areas," said the statement on the ministry's website.

The ministry also asked Iranians living in Britain to refrain from going to the "restive areas in order to be safe from any possible danger and harm."

In 2009, Britain and other Western countries condemned Tehran for violently crushing protests that followed the controversial re-election of Ahmadinejad.

Iran denounced the Western condemnations as meddling in its internal affairs.

Dozens of people were killed in the opposition demonstrations protesting what they said was massive election fraud. Thousands more were arrested, several hundred of whom were handed long prison terms.

If you don't have the time to express yourself clearly, then wait until you can. I am at work, and was in a rush, but that's no excuse for ignroantly skipping over the quoted text and commenting.

Work should be the number one focus and I wouldn't fault somebody for making this mistake.

So where's the burden of clarity? Is it on the poster or the reader?

No, no. I'm not talking about this thread. I'm referring to the million or so times we've been accused of having reading comprehension problems only to now see the problem is not that people can't understand what's posted, it's that posters aren't posting things in an easily understandable manner.

It's like no matter what, we're always wrong! Who woulda thunk?

Slim, clearly we might need to revisit this topic. Read what I posted, I don't think you quite got the meaning of it. I didn't misunderstand the point being made, I completely skipped over it and went straight to posting. A derp move on my part yes, I admitted as such. That doesn't mitigate your reading issues though.

It's their way of saying "I don't have a valid reply/argument on your post, so I'm going to accuse you have not being able to comprehend anything".

Some of the worst debaters Iv'e seen in my life are the libs on here. A lot of times they make post on here out of ...passion maybe..fck who knows, but it's a rarity that they ever post any numbers, facts...well anything that's actually considered an educated reply to said topic and or post. It's like they are posting out of habit and compulsion.

And when you really crack down on them with facts...well that's when they come all unglued at the seams.

We haven't seen any evidence of muslims joining the rioters - instead we have seen several stories of them standing up to them and being hailed as heroes.

If those stories were posted by the BBC...well then I wouldn't be surprised. The BBC isn't above siding on certain issues and with certain groups. In fact they are one of the more biased Euro media outlets I have read these past few years.

I'm sure peeps are going to say something like "#######...the BBC biased? No way!".

Ya, their biased.

That's as I understand it too. Obviously extremist groups are going to capitalise on the events, that doesn't mean that they are particularly relevant to anything.
