Hi guys! I need help with the financial support forms. I was wondering if the I-134 was optional or necessary? And would it be ok for my future dad-in-law to fill it out? And what other forms could we attach? My fiance just got a new job that would be ok to support us. But the last years he had a very low income job, so his tax returns from the last couple years aren't looking pretty. What to do about that? And is there a minimum he needs to earn to support me? I have no idea about figures!

Your fiance MUST fill it out. If he is close to the income limit, then you can have a co-sponsor, such as his dads, who will also fill out a separate I-134. Each form needs its supporting documentation (ideally payslips, letter from employer and last three year's tax returns).

If it's just the two of you- no kids or other dependants, your fiance needs to make just under $19'000 minimum.

No probably about it- he must have a co-sponsor for you to get approved, unless he has significant assets (savings, property, second car) he can list.

The I-134 form itself is optional, it is a pre-preinted convenience and basically a cover letter to all you attach to it

What is NOT optional is that YOU, the petitioner, must provide information that satifies the consulate that you can support your fiance(e). You can use any means you decide to do so. If you cannot do so, then you can ALSO provide inforamtion from another person who will be the CO-sponsor. YOU will always be the "sponsor", anyone else is a co-sponsor.

If you do not provide the evidence that your fiance(e) will be supported, no visa will be issued.
