i know this may have been asked already, but i cannot find a similar topic...sorry :/

i only make 21,256 a year (im a student). i will only be supporting him, i do not think thats enough though. theres a calculator to check but i cant make it out because though ill only be suporting him, we will be living with my parents for a couple of months..so my household size is 4. therefore, my sister will co sponsor for me. i read from many of you guys that a bank letter is necessary, but is it really? my sister just gave birth and she wont be able to go to the bank any time soon and i want to send everything asap. is it really necessary or will w-2, job letter, and pay stubs suffice?

thanks!

Please look at http://aspe.hhs.gov/...11poverty.shtml for the poverty guidelines. You will notice that a family of 2 needs to make $14,710 and for the I-864 125% of that number is needed or $18, 387.50. It would appear you are above that level for yourself and your beneficiary.

Good Luck,

Dave

You are well over the requirement for a household of 2 (18,387) based on income. You don't need anything from a bank.

you will need IRS tax return copies 3 previous year or transcript, W-2, letter employment and pay stubs.

Look up the I-864P on the USCIS website for the 211 poverty level guide.

These are the guidelines to go by: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

Just because you will living with your parents does not make your parents dependent on you. They are not included in your household size. Your household size is 2, you and your fiance. The 125% level for 2 is $18,387. You are above that and do not need a co-sponsor. Your income is sufficient and all you need. You do not need to list assets at all, and do not need a letter from the bank or bank statements of any kind. You need a 2010 tax transcript from the IRS. You can get one from your local office, or order one by phone or online. They are free. If you don't want to get the IRS transcript, then make a complete copy of your 1040 return and W-2s. You will also need a letter from your employer stating you work there and your salary, and a few of your most recent pay stubs.
