Hi folks,

I will be sending my petition to USCIS very soon and I'm curious about the copy of the green card. when I get a black and white copy even you can't see much of the data. I have a color printer, the colored copy is identical copy of the card. You think its better to send a color copy ??

Do I need to send in copies of marriage, passports ?

Thanks again for all your help

I used colored when I printed mine and it turned out exactly the same color with the real one. Way much better than a B&W.

The MC and passport copies are not necessary in the petition.

Good Luck!

With the huge amount of paperwork that was in our future back when we got married, the one marriage present we requested (and got) was a wireless laser printer. Much cheaper to operate than a color inkjet printer. But of course it prints black only. ALL of the copies we sent in were in black and white only, and there wasn't any problem with this.

I'm sure if it mattered what type of copy it was, they would stipulate "black and white copy" or "color copy" in the instructions :) Providing the image is readable it'll be fine.

I don't understand why they demand a copy of it anyway, it's not like they don't have the data it contains already

I actually experimented with color inkjet and laser and just sent them both because I had them in the paperwork anyway and figured why not. I'm sure it was overkill but oh well

We sent in EVERYTHING in black and white, including pictures (like Kar_98, we have a black only laser printer). We got approved pretty quickly, so it must not matter whether they are black and white or color...just that you have the right evidence and it's legible. :)

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.
