I am going to be filing the fiance visa application soon and I am in a complicated situation. I just came home from overseas and I am currently only working part time. I am also pregnant with my fiance's baby. I have to have medical care but without a full-time job, I don't have insurance. I am desperately looking for a full time job and will hopefully find something soon. I will qualify for my state's medicaid program or something similar since I am underemployed and pregnant. I don't have much choice in whether or not to accept government insurance since I need medical care and can't afford to pay out of pocket for all my expenses. I will probably also qualify for other forms of assistance, but I am really wary of accepting anything else because of the effect it might have on the visa process. If I accept WIC or any other government program, will that be held against us during visa processing? I know I will have to fill out the affidavit of support. I hope to be working full time by then. I will probably also have to have a co-sponsor because I am not sure if I will be making enough at the time of my fiance's interview, especially if the baby has been born and I am expected to be making enough to support 3. Any advice would be very helpful. This situation is very stressful for both of us.

A US citizen may use any government service/program. It's the intending immigrant who cannot receive some services / programs.

I agree also since you are working part time you might need to look into getting a Co-sponsor/ Joint sponsor. You need to be making at least $17,000 which is above the poverty level. A joint sponsor can be anyone family or friend who is willing to supplement your income should you and your fiance need financial support.
