Thankfully, my husband doesn't share the same attitudes of many in this thread....I am still not down to my pre-baby weight, however I am getting there. But it's kinda sh!t, even in jest, what's been said in this thread. Saying that, I do believe there's a bigger problem if a woman stops taking care of herself just cos she's married. A friend of mine who also has a young child said 'agh to hell with it, I'm married and a mom, I don't care anymore.'. (tho she's small anyway and prolly now only weighs 100 lbs). I think it could be as simple as a lack of balance in her schedule....Lord knows I have greatly suffered from that on this new path I'm on.

But I think we should all never stop caring about ourselves, and looking good for our spouses. Or even just doing it for ourselves. I look at my pre-baby clothes and cannot wait to get back in them....becoming a wife and mother doesn't mean I don't wanna look good. However, that doesn't mean a woman (or man) should have to prostrate him/herself to ridicule as being somehow less worthy of respect just cos she's gained a few....

Seriously, if you're drawing conclusions like that it seems clear you've had some pretty bitter, acrimonious experiences. I'd say that's not uncommon either - but I wonder how common it is to insinuate that all women are the same when it comes to these things.
