There's more taxes on gas than profit I would guess. It's just hidden in the price.

Partly true in US (there is some tax hidden in it).

In other countries (Canada, UK) cent-percent true.

(especially in Canada after 1990, g0uge-and-$crew tax)

The only reason analysts can see a plunge in gas prices is because Bush will be out of office. That's what they are not telling us. IMO! LOL!

While I can remember C$0.50 (Imperial Gallon) gas, it was prior to my getting licenced.

Lowest US gas I can practically (where I actually filled with it) was $0.779 in Cartersville.

when I first started driving in Canada... gas was about 40 or 50 some cents a litre and everyone would get excited if it went down to 35 cents... nowadays I think it is over a dollar a litre in Canada... at least in the area I am from

I can remember (after 1981, when I got licenced) it going down as low as 28 cents/litre(Calgary). It was possible to get it at 16 cents in Bowden (due to having the refinery).

I think we should put an escalating tax on gas based on usage. So if you use like 2000 gallons / year you pay like 5000.00 but if you use 100 gallons you pay like 1.00. That will get all that goofy ####### off the road. And for all of you driving 800 miles back and forth to work I say move. And if you cant afford to or don't want to move. Conservative dogma apparently thinks your stupid and lazy so you don't count.

1988 - I paid 69 cents/gal at a station in Massachusetts for quite a while. All the other stations in the area were 10 cents more.

Yeah, it's like this station I found here in Mass at $2.17. It's a lot lower than any other station around. Cash only.
