Is this circulating on some part of the blogosphere today?

Slim just used it today (reverse logic is what the video uses, interestingly) to try and equate the optional sport of basketball and access to team membership to the guaranteed protections on liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness (which in the USA, are not optional for all).

I should have credited Slim with it when I posted...truth be told, I opened the link in a sep window a while ago...I cam back and watched it, and then I forgot where I had found it. By the time I remembered, it was too late to edit.

But it is exceptionally interesting.

The constitution doesn't guarantee anyone a job. It's a fair equation.

I actually found it very interesting as well. What difference lies between both examples is quite clear in my opinion- and is missed in the rush to try to make political points on historical circumstance. The Constitution and the legislative system it establishes in order to oversee the legal workings of the nation is quite different in scope, including the right to be able to access a livelihood (not be granted, but have access to- which is what AA actually does), from the access to join a college sports team. That's my grain of salt; and I am not really surprised some people would rush to blur the lines between these different examples in order to play reverse logic against something quite different from something optional.

Basketball makes me happy, if only there wasn't so many talented black men getting in my way.

This reminds me of when I visited the Cal Univ. A group of students were having a bake sale with the price depending on your race. Nice to know there is still hope for Berkley.

AA is not only outdated, but it relies on a racial premise of being identified solely on race; which ironically is what it's trying to abolish.

Minorities are not incapable, or less superior than while people. They are equally competent, and should be recognized as such.

Really! That's awful. You should have video recorded that. :(

I agree. AA is becoming outdated, faster than I previously thought. This is great in my opinion.

Good grief. Lets just say that if I was to become a NBA player my livlihood would be top notch. Many students join the sports program with the plans of having a career in sports.

No matter how you spin this you're not going to make making decisions based on skin color sound good.....well you do have a knack for making stupid sound good....

Yeah how many aspiring athletes actually make it a career and from that, make it big?

Not really a relevant example to compare to what AA is about, but since you want to talk about knacks for stupid... ermm... you missed it too.

People think the government should guarantee their happiness. It can't. It can only guarantee their right to pursue happiness.

Yes, because we simply cannot apply a principle equally across all boards. We have to pick and choose where those principles apply and ignore them everywhere else.

Racist. Blatantly racist in today's society. How dare you accuse black people of being capable and/or equal to whites.

Really! That's awful. You should have video recorded that. :(

That's your affirmative action right there. Special treatment based on color. Great idea!

You're appalled by it in this form yet completely support it in another.

The only thing worse than a racist is a hypocrite.

For arguments sake lets say 500 a year. Now go on
