US Spouse's id - what to bring

When I submitted my application - I submitted photocopies of my husband's US passport which indicates his birthplace as South Carolina, US.

I was just noticing on the interview letter they ask me to bring his birth certificate as well, shouldn't his US passport be adequate proof of his US birth place?.

I am asking since I don't know if we can find it before my Weds interview (we have it, but gawd knows where in this house)!

They like to see the birth certificate, but if you can't find it it's not going to be a deal breaker as the US passport is indeed proof of US citizenship and proof that your husband was born in the U.S.of A.

You can always order from http://www.vitalchek.com but in your case(until Wednesday) I doubt you will receive that fast.

On other hand either he or his parents(depends if they're still residing in South Carolina) can get it in SC state's vital records department by walk-in which takes 30-45 minutes then mail it to you, more info here:

However as Bob mentioned passport should be more than enough because in order to obtain it he must have used either Birth certificate in your case or naturalization certificate which wouldn't state place of birth inside USA.
