I am filling out form I-864 for my immigrant wife. My household member is filling out form I-864A. Do I need to answer any questions in Part 3 of form I-864?

In the official instructions it says something about the part being only for the joint sponsors, but it is all so messy i'm not sure what i should put in it.

In Part 3, check Item 8, because you are the primary sponsor of your spouse mentioned in Part 2.

Then for the ones below that, check "Yes", if you have just one joint-sponsor only (it doesn't matter whether I-864 or I-864A filer) or check "No" if you have two joint-sponsors (meaning you plus two others). It looks like you have one family member living at the same address as you (I-864A indicates that) as co-sponsor - if this is correct, then check "YES".

I agree. good.gif

Check item 8 and then "yes" as you only have one joint sponsor.

Thank you for you information.

Check the box beside 8 and then 'yes' below. Question 8 is asking whether or not you're sponsoring an immigrant and you are.

If you have a co-sponsor, then you check yes as well since you're sponsoring the immigrant, but with help.

The only time you check 'no' is if you're not helping at all and you have 2 joint sponsors.
