Hey everyone

I am wondering what kind of police check I need done, living in scotland.

I assume its a disclosure scotland check, whether it is enhanced or basic I don't know.

Haven't been sent the guidance on it yet but want a head start.

If anyone knows anything I would be very grateful!

This is the application you need. http://www.acpo.police.uk/documents/ACRO/20110412%20ACRO%20Police%20Certificate%20Application%20Form%20v15.pdf . It's good for 12 months and will be needed to take to the medical exam in London.

Here's the other documents to get in hand before they will schedule your interview. http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html

That page says 10 days, is it much longer than that??

I just got the NOA2 two weeks ago, I haven't received the letter from the embassy yet so if I apply now then I should hopefully be ok. My fiance has to fund the entire process cause I don't have a job just now.

I was confused about this because whenever I have needed one before it was disclosure scotland, but knowing my luck I would have bought one then got it turned down!

Perhaps that was just your experience? Ours came within the timeframe specified.

If you have the time - and you're not in a rush - no need to pay for the rush service.

You don't have a timeline up, but they take longer than posted by the UK to come. It's worth it to get it in hand, by paying for quicker delivery.

Visa application forms are mailed in. Here's your instructions from the embassy. http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html You can start your forms found on the page. Your documents (Police certificate, birth certificate, etc) are taken to the interview. The list of documents is the second link I gave you above.

Our police certificate came in a week, but you need to get passport photos signed by somebody (in the instructions) and that may use up a bit of time before you send off the ACPO application.
