In Texas when you get a DL they put some Bull$hit on the licenses about being a "Temporary Visitor"

What we did was tell DPS about 1 month later that my wife lost her DL and the issued her another DL without the "Temporary Vistor" stuff written on it.....

I checked with GA Patrol on a similar subject (whether I had to changeover from foreign DL as a temp visa holder) in 1994 and was told "no" (I don't know if this matter changed post-2001). Got away with driving on Alberta DL for over 2 years--and even escaped a speeding ticket in August 1994, as the Dekalb County (I was stopped where PIB meets I-285) traffic-cop couldn't figure out the whole deal on it.

It has changed since then. I don't know when as it was in effect when I moved here in 2004. http://www.dds.ga.gov/drivers/dldata.aspx?con=1744173714&ty=dl The immigration document requirement came into effect in 2005 apparently.

We likes it when you pays more fees.

Can lose it again, now that the policy is a law, see if any new wording on hers?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

apparently hasn't figured out that every state DL issued since 2001/09/12 to a temp visa holder indicates that--with expiry date exactly the same as that of the visa!

idk how the texas law reads. but, oklahoma has had a similiar law in place for some time now. my wife's state id, learners permit, & dl all were issued w/ the standard 4 year expiration...as of today we're still waiting on the 10 year GC. oklahoma only checks to verify that the applicant is in the US legally at the time the apply for the dl/id. if texas's law doesn't read that way...a couple lawsuits later..it will.
