After watching lots of applications filed after mine get approved, I broke down and called my senators and congressman. Weirdly though, I got an email from my congressman today saying that he called the service center and was told that our I-130 application was approved yesterday. However... the website still says we're in initial review.

I called USCIS about this discrepancy, and they had no idea what was going on. A woman at USCIS told me the following things through the course of the phone call:

1. It hasn't been approved.

2. Maybe it's been approved, but it takes a while (up to a month?!) to enter it into the computer system.

3. Our service request was cancelled yesterday, indicating possible approval.

4. It's on its way to NVC, so that means it must have been approved.

I have no idea how to feel about any of this. Any ideas?

I'd suggest calling back Monday, and emailing your congressman again, and asking another agent. The website sometimes does indeed take a while to update and in rare cases has never updated. Have you received either a NOA2 email or paper notification yet?

I will post the results of my RFE on this thread in case anyone else has the same issue.

I just received the RFE in the mail today. This is what it said:

Please respond to the items listed below:

Foreign Marriage Document: The petitioner has merely submitted the English translation of the above-mentioned document without the foreign language document. Therefore, it is requested that the petitioner submit a legible copy of the requested document in its original from which the translation was taken.

Foreign Divorce Document: The petitioner has merely submitted the beneficiary's English translation of the above-mentioned document without the foreign language document. Therefore, it is requested that the petitioner submit a legible copy of the requested document in its original language form which the translation was taken.

This is confusing to me because I did include the requested documents in their original form. My wife went to the local Registro Civil (Civil Registry) and requested copies of these documents. I submitted those documents (not photocopies). I even checked with the consulate in Santiago to make sure they were the proper documents and they confirmed that they were.

Anyone else had a similar RFE? I can always re-submit the same documents I submitted the first time, I had additional copies issued for the DS-230 applications, but I don't want them to respond back with the same RFE again. Is the 1-800-375-5283 number listed on the RFE useful for providing additional information or do they just tell you to follow the instructions?

This is very frustrating, we submitted the petition 7 months ago and we're still stuck on the USCIS step. This really is turning into a nightmare.

I checked earlier today and ours still isn't in their system.

So they do send you an e-mail when they receive it?

I sent them an email (NVCinquiry@state.gov), they usually send a response the next business day.

I got my case number from NVC, now waiting for the invoice number, I will call or send email tomorrow.

If they've given you a case number, they should also be able to give you an invoice number...pretty sure they are generated at the same time. When I called, the operator could only give me the case and invoice number, not the beneficiary number (which you need for electronic processing/forms). I called back 2 minutes later and got an operator who could give me all three. Some of them don't 100% know what they're doing, so try again today.

I received an email from NVC telling me that they received and processed my DS-3032 email. Now my question is once i already paid the AOS invoice, can i send the I-864 right away or do I have to wait for the I-864 package and use the form that they sent with the barcode?

Yup, having the numbers allows you to log into the payment portal so you can see if the fees have been invoiced. You don't have to wait for an email letting you know that if you don't want to.

Case number showed up in an e-mail as a reply to my Case Inquiry, and I just talked to an operator to get my BIN and IIN.

Fees aren't invoiced yet, but who cares, after six months of waiting for my I-130, this much progress in a few days is enough to give me an aneurysm

I submitted the documents that were requested in the RFE on Tuesday, February 28th and the package was received by USCIS the following day. My case status was updated to RFE Response Review on 2/29 and about 2 hours ago I received a text email from USCIS with a notification that my case status had been updated. I was thrilled to read that both the petitions for my wife and step-daughter were approved on 3/2!

NVC here we come!

Did you get an email from NVC telling you that they accepted your DS-3032? Just want to know coz it's been over a week now since I sent our DS3032 but still havent heard from them yet. thanks!
