hey guys so my interview is Monday.. and last week I had a nasty nasty computer virus that decided to wipe out random things on my pc (I have missing short cuts, missing files, you name it).. so I have no way to get back 2.5 years of call logs. SO.. crafty me, I thought ok Ill get hubby to export and save HIS call history. sounds great, right? nope. His only goes back to March 3rd of this year. I was visiting him from November 16 - March 3rd and in January his computer motherboard died. So we bought a new computer for him. Since I was there, he had no reason to call me on skype.. I went home the 3rd.. thats when calls began again. All our other 2 years of call logs are on the old hard drive which he has no external HD enclosure to copy them off with.. Do you think the consulate will be ok with 3 months worth of calls? It didnt even occur to me that our history would be on the old drive. ugh!

Our Visa Journey:

06/18/2010 - Submitted I-130 pkg and cheque - Denied, missing information
07/07/2010 - Re-submitted pkg - Denied, same information incorrect or missing - pulling our hair out!
08/30/2010 - Re-submitted pkg AGAIN! this time tried a new answer on two questions.
09/03/2010 - received pkg
09/08/2010 - NOA-1 sent
09/13/2010 - Touched
12/13/2010 - NOA-2 Issued.
12/19/2010 - NOA-2 Hard Copy Received!
01/04/2011 - Received AOS Bill
02/01/2011 - Paid AOS Bill
02/23/2011 - Received IV Bill
03/29/2011 - Paid IV Bill
03/30/2011 - Mailed IV Packet
04/01/2011 - Mailed AoS Packet
04/21/2011 - RFE
04/29/2011 - Evidence Mailed in
05/06/2011 - Case Complete!
05/13/2011 - Received Email with Interview Date!

07/08/2011 - Visa in hand.

You can contact Skype and get a record of your calls going back 2 1/2 years. That's what I did! yes.gif Except, you said your interview is Monday. Not sure they can get it to you that fast, but contact them and ask.

Are you sure you're not able to get your main.db from Skype directory? This is the file that stores all your chat-logs and your profile.

If you can, copy that file into another PC with Skype installed and log-in with your username. But make sure you have a copy of that person's main.db saved to another location, because yours will overwrite it.

Get someone who can connect your old HDD to desktop computer. If this is an IDE interface - I don't see any problems. All older (and newer as well) motherboards support that interface and have extra IDE cable(s).

Of course, in case with laptops it would be harder to transmit data, but still problem could be resolved. Try to get USB enclosure for IDE HDD.

Just curious; why so much emphasis on the Skype records? We don't Skype very much but have phone calls, emails, visits, pictures, cards, plus more to document our journey together.... just wondering.....?

for me its because that is what we use the most. we hardly ever email unless hes forwarding me something, and since we got smartphones we use IM instead of text because texting was costing so much on his end... and I dont have a land line so the long distance was a killer too. Its just frustrating. My hubby isnt a tech-capable guy. I dont think he could hook his old drive up to retrieve the info :( and I leave tomorrow and hes working until midnight so.. hopefully 3 months will be enough and I can explain what happened to the other 2 years of skype records.

Just as an information note: i spoke with skype today actually about getting records of my calls for the last year. they will gladly give you the paid call logs. however as a rule are not allowed to give out any personal conversations, video conersations etc. the lady said it was strictly enforced and all she could give me would be the paid phone calls i make to my wife in colombia. however it does show some of the text messages i sent using skype as well. additionally i use another site for international text messages which is a pay for text site but it also allows me to download full text content of our conversations over the past 9 months etc. always better to have more than not enough.

anyways thought i would chim in since i spoke directly with them as of today. best of luck

these were skype to skype :/ not paid. I have a paid subscription now but we didnt get one until December when I was visiting for a few months because then I could call home to canada. Im so frustrated. but they can see that we chatted every day for the past 3 months... its not like that would be a sudden occurrence over a 2.5 year relationship.
