Today I paid IV fee so I was wondering if I can send DS-230 without PCC documents. Can my wife submit PCC at the interview? It's really hard to get PCC without interview letter in Gujarat.

Yes, what you've described is possible. Do expect a checklist letter prior to appointment letter - sometimes the checklist letter is sufficient to get the PCC started.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I DIDN'T know we could get an interview date prior to turning everything in. I thought the case had to be complete with ALL the required papers in for an interview to be scheduled. Or is it certain papers?

na, it's specific to certain countries - India has big, huge, immense PCC 'getting' problem - most offices want to see the interview letter or the checklist letter prior to issuing a PCC. If the passport is over 6 months old, as well, they have to get two seperate, distince PCCs, as well (but this is India state specific, as well) .

India's a mess for getting PCCs into NVC in a timely fashion.

Now, don't go asking me what works for each state - that's waaaaaaaaaaay beyond my ken.

That was our country i understand all countries are different. i wish you luck

Yes, it is a major headache.

What I am doing is submitting a local PCC instead of the Passport PCC to NVC with my DS-230 packet. In the cover sheet I am stating that as per the local jurisdiction where my wife resides a Passport PCC can not be obtained without an official interview letter from NVC. The passport PCC will be shown at the time of the interview.

^^ Indian filers have done it this way and it has been approved and interview date assigned. I suggest the O.P. do it as so.

My wife is from Gujarat also, here local jurisdiction is Vadodara.

Your going to lose some time since your already ready for your DS-230 to be sent. You should have thought about this earlier.

Good Luck, its not easy to get these documents in advanced.

yes, you can go ahead and send your DS230 without PCC if you your case is at BMB ( Bombay )..I talked to NVC operators 14 times and i time with supervisor. They told me Bombay consulate people can summitte without PCC. They already know that we had this issue. You can talk to them and make sure with them. I did so many times and i endup that i won't be summitte pcc. But in you DS230 cover later just mention that Beneficiary will summitte PCC at the time of interview at Mumbai Consulate. We are not able to summitte because our city passport office want interview later from Bombay consulate. so we will summitte it at the time of interview. You will be ok. Good Luck.

Dave,

I agree with you. I saw some good posting from your side. But i would like to do one thing from side. Can you call to NVC and ask them your beneficiary consulate is Bombay and do you have to send PCC with DS230? They told me for Bombay consulate no, you don't have to summitte but you will sammitte at the time of interview. I talked with atleast different 10 to 12 operator and their answered were same. You will have same question very soon.So why don't start now and it helps our Indian community too cuz PCC is really big headach for Indian basically for north Gujarat people. You can get PCC very easily from kolkata, chennia, and delhi too.

I already have called since I was having this issue a while back. They did not say out right that it is not required for Bombay. I have no idea what operators told you flat out that it was not required. They did reiterate it is best for you to send in LOCAL PCC with the DS-230 form and state in the cover letter the Passport PCC will be submitted at the time of the interview.

That is the best information I have for you Hitu. What you do with it is up to you. Personally if it was me, I would just send in the DS-230 and wait for an RFE and send that to my spouse get the PCC and have it sent into NVC.

Some local jurisdictions make it tough. I am lucky my wife was able to get the Local PCC from Vadodara without any issues.

Good Luck!

Hi Dave,

ohh ok that's good You called them. But when you called them, did you ask that your beneficiary'sis Bombay and you will be dealing with Bombay consulate.Because when i said bombay consulate then they said that they don't need pcc. My wife appliced for pcc at surat on base of DS3032 barcode form. But still local police station they still need interview later for local pcc. You are luck that your wife got it. My wife got passport before 10 days ago, so it's fresh passport and as per bombay consulate check list if your passport is less than 6 month old at the time of interview then you don't need even local pcc. They mention on bombay consulate webside.Anyway still i can nt make my mind about what to do. One more think if my case will complete at NVC around 15 to 20 july then should i expect interview in Aug or in Sep. The reason i m trying to do fast cuz i don't want to delay in NVC process. I did hard work for this process and don't want to give up..so Let'see god helps or not?TC

Yes. I specifically said my wife resides in the state of Gujarat and will have Mumbai as her consulate.

This is also my wife's first passport. It was issued in May, so it also falls in the less than 6 month category.

I understand that you do not want to waste time in your application, but I did not like the idea of sending nothing for the PCC part of the application.

My brother and also another family friend did it the exact same procedure as I am doing and they were approved with no problems.

It's up to you what to do and I wish nothing but a smooth and fast process for the rest of your immigration journey!
