Well, I finally received my VISA on the 22nd August 2011 - one year 1 month from our priority date, which, in the scheme of things, doesn't sound too bad considering I had to go through a waiver of inadmissibilty procedure. As we TSC campaigners all know though, that doesn't tell the whole story. One of these days I'll write a complete rundown of the problems encountered along the way! The worst bit for me, was the denial at interview because of overstay (which I expected). The best bit, was the speed our I 601 waiver was approved. What could have been a horrendous two year wait, was reduced to 2 weeks thanks to the help of many people who helped us push our expedite request through. The people at the London Embassy have been very kind and helpful, and now it's time to return home to the USA. Best wishes to every single one of you who has helped us on our way, and celldoc - are you approved yet?

Hey Saylin, nice to see you around again. POE will be Orlando, unless the New York route becomes cheaper. Val is with me in the UK, and we'll be flying this coming Sunday I think. I was suprised by the VISA. I expected just a rubber stamp I551 in my passport, but I got a VISA stuck in complete with photograph and registration code. A full temp I 551 for up to one year. (Is this a new procedure, or has someone been kind to us?)

Oh, this Sunday! Very soon! :D

You actually get the I-551 at POE. They'll stamp above your visa that you entered on a IR-1/CR-1 visa, and date it.

The visa is very fancy, and that's what everyone gets. Does it look like the third picture here: http://journeythroughimmigration.blogspot.com/2011/05/visa-received.html ?

Your visa should be good for 6 months, and then the stamp at POE is good for one year, acting as a temporary green card until you get the real one in the mail.

Hi Lidia :)

I'm doing good. School started yesterday. It's good to finally be back in school and learning after a hiatus of a year. And started a job about 2 weeks ago. Finally earning money again after having no job for more than a year.

And I can understand your reasons for not working. It's gonna be important to get her adjusted to life in the US. And you being home everyday will help a lot. Once you do start looking for a job, I hope you find one easier than I did yes.gif

Val and Gary- CONGRATS!!

Well friends, I am back from India, alone. Unfortunately my wife wasn't granted a visa, on the grounds that we hadn't provided sufficient documentation of our marriage. This complete nonsense, in my opinion, borderlines harassment. Anyway, we submitted additional material the very next day, it's been over a week now, and we still haven't heard anything.

Needless to say we're really upset.

I haven't had time to search through VJ, but I wonder if there may be some sort of regularity in this type of occurrence.

At this point I have no number I can call, and unsure if there is any authority that can shed some light on what's happening with our application.

Best wishes to all.

That sucks :(

Try calling DOS, they have access to your case while it's at the embassy. Their number is 202-663-1225. Press 1 and then 0. Explain your situation and they'll then request for your case number. Hopefully you get good news real soon!

I don't how long it takes for additional documents in India to be reviewed. In Montreal, it's usually a month or two and then you receive your visa. But like I said, I don't know anything about India.

Hi all, thanks so much for the support and well-wishes.

Being in this AP position really sucks and takes me back to the traumatic days of being a TSC hostage- being left in complete darkness.

I don't have any updates.

Saylin, I've been calling the number you provided (thanks so much) and everyday it's the same thing- the application is being processed.

Thanks again.
