I'd be happy with a 1965 cherry red Karmann Ghia convertible with white leather interior. You know, if I had to think about it. Preferably driven by a 6' 2" German with long hair and a sexy smile.

Yes, except in Ukraine a "hot car" is a 1993 Lada knockoff of a VW Scirroco. Improves one's odds cosiderably. even a guy that can afford to ride the Martshuka instead of the trolley is quite a catch.

Oh, come on. We all know that a black BMW is considered to be the hottest kind of car in the FSU (anything else is not important  ). Did you not hear the song?

Its an inside joke. Our very good friend in Donetsk has exactly the car I described and he is a very generous and helpful sort. Any time Alla needed a car he would drive her or borrow it to me to drive. Before she came here, Alla had him take her aorund for one day so she could "see what it is like to do all her errands with a car" instead of by bus and trolley and walking. The car had so many problems, flat tire, wouldn't start, etc., that she was seriously questioning the need for a car for everyday use.

It is a serious contender for "the worst car in the world" title. If it had dual exhaust pipes it would make a better wheelbarrow than a car.
