Its hard for me to see the US allowing China to control the south china sea. The 7th Fleet is always within range there, though their base is a little ways away in Yokosuka Prefecture. Still they keep a task force stationed in Singapore.

Its too important of a shipping lane for the US and its allies, mainly Australia, to allow China to control it. If there is an all out war in the ME it will have even greater importance.
